Planet V: giant new sound expansion library for Roland Fanto
Re: Planet V: giant new sound expansion library for Roland F
demonp, the Planet V library includes bells and a lot of choir/vox sounds (based on unique multisamples, not internal Fantom-X waves), there is a separate demo for it. In a couple weeks, I will add more of such patches to Planet V as well as Planet X.
However, there will be a new library for the Fantom-G series which will include much more of such organic sounds. I will be arranging choir and vocal sample sessions soon, plus there will also be woodwinds and lots of other acoustic-derived sounds.

Can I write you some kind of private message or e-mail? I have some questions about FX and I don't want to open a new topic.

Just a note, Planet V was updated this week and now includes 160 patches.

Im new here, what exactly is this? And how does it install on my Fantom. Last but not least how are these sounds compared to the SRX boards?????
Re: Planet V: giant new sound expansion library for Roland F
tears2040, this is a sound library which is similar to an SRX board, but it resides on your storage card and loads into the sample RAM. It provides new instruments, drum kits, loops and patches that all sound very different from what's inside the Fantom, and different from any SRX board. There are many different sounds there, from synths and pads to choirs and drums and much more.
To install it, you just copy the folder onto your storage card via USB and that's it.

Re: Planet V: giant new sound expansion library for Roland F
Ok, now my Fantom is stock. I bought it about 4 years ago when it first came out. I only use it as a Sound Module, I have never sampled or expanded the ram as I have my MPC for that.
All I do have is a couple SRX boards in there.
So what I'm asking is I'm guessing I need to up the memory on my Fantom, because it only comes with 32MB?
And if I do purchase these sounds will they show up like normal patches in the Fantom that I can assign to the mixer?
thanks

Yes, you'll need to expand your RAM and get a storage card, but that will open you new possibilities. There are lots of amazing things you can do with your samples on the Fantom, like putting them into the synth engine and effects.
Also, yes, all Planet patches show up as normal patches in user and card banks, so you can use them just any any other patch.

Re: Planet V: giant new sound expansion library for Roland F
Just as a reminder I am using Version 1.00
I bought my keyboard when it first came out, than was away for 4 years got out and it's like I'm learning everything all over again.
I use my MPC-1000 as a sequencer as I feel more comfortable with it, and I have the Fantom hooked up to it via midi.
So I really don't even make actual songs with the Fantom, I just record sequences into the MPC and use the Fantom as a sound module.
Looks like I'm going to need to buy
* Adapter for Compact Flash Cards
* Compact FLash Card
* Memory
* Then this sound library?
Since these are samples I'm guessing what sample rate and bit depth are they in? Like what's the actual sonic quality if these sounds?
Thanks a lot for the help
peace

Yes, your buying list is correct. As of the OS version, Planets work with any version, but I'd still recommend you update it - the instructions are in the FAQ which is one of the stickies.
As for the format, it is Fantom's native 44.1 kHz 16 bit. The actual quality can be evaluated from the demos and from our soundfolio.

Help With Planet V Installation
Hey Artemiy, or anyone who can help...
I just tried installing Planet V on my Fantom X6, by following the instructions in the download.
I connected my computer by USB cable, went to System, then to USB.
My Fantom was already set to USB Mode: Storage. Is this normal?
Am I supposed to press 'System Write' after that?
Also, in the instructions, it says to select the 'card' area, but I didn't see any option for this. Where do I find it?
Could it be that my operating system needs updating?
Anyway, the gist of this is that I couldn't complete the install because the instructions didn't seem to match up with what I was seeing on my screen.
And the removable drive which represents the Card flash memory didn't show up on my desktop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Eric, do you actually have a storage card in your PC Card slot, as well as a DIMM memory expansion?

Yes, I've got a 1GB memory card installed, as well as a 512 MB SDRAM card.
Re: Planet V: giant new sound expansion library for Roland F
Okay then, just press MENU and select USB Storage right from that dropdown menu (do NOT go to the System menu, this is not needed). Now you can select your card area and access it from your computer as an external drive.
