Need new strings - stock strings suck (FantomS)

... I did look at the Kirk Hunter site, and I vaguely remember reading that they were available for Logic (Im going to double check on that, dont remember if it was EXSP24).

I listened to the audio demos, and they're nice ... really like them, especially if you're laying tracks down!! Nice solo violin, but the SRX-06 has good solo violin sounds (live playing).

Vlad, he's right ... lots of the strings in Indian music play fast/lively pieces and are punchy (rather than background pad sort of sounds), so you need sounds that are really alive/punchy. I had a tough time making them with the stock sounds, which is when I decided to get the SRX-06, since there are some really useable sounds in there, and using a combination of programming and layering, Im able to get good string sounds, but they're sometimes lacking the clarity/punch that one hears in the recordings.

SRX 04 is strings...strings...strings...all kinds of strings...short strings...fat strings...skinny strings...strings, strings, strings...I HAVE THIS CARD AND I RECOMMEND IT. The card has a name. The name is Symphonic Strings. That right there should tell you a whole lot about it. It's got STRINGS on it. Violins, cellos, violas, string sections, symphony stuff.

Not only that, but you can get SRX 06 which is orchestra...orchestra...orchestra. And orchestras have STRINGS in them. Lots of strings. Short, tall, fat skinny...strings strings strings strings....

Either way you look at it, you gots to pay for this. Good sounds aren't free. I think they should be. But nobody ever listens to me.

Yes Vlad, SRX 4 has Strings.
In case you are confused, SRX6 has Orchestra and SRX1 has Drums. Although, I admit I'm confused as to what SRX-2 "Concert Piano" contains. )

I have SRX 04 & 06. still not happy with them while comparing them with the ones used in Indian film Industry.

So, I bought 2 sample CDz of Roland 760 format strings. They really do the job.. so I use them..than depending on internal tones..

Actually for Indian songs... Korg is the keyword... strings, violins, Saxophone, Accordians, Flute etc that you are searching for Indian songs are readily available in there... I don't play but my daughter plays and I have provided her Fantom X7 [with SRX 09] and Korg Pa800 and believe me I get the best of both the worlds. I am looking forward to add SRX06 too.

Im primarily a guitar player, and I need 1 keyboard that can handle all my needs. I dont think I'll ever play it live ... I love my guitar too much !!

I play Jazz/Rock/Blues and Indian film music. For straight Jazz, or rock/blues, I dont find the sounds in the Fantom lacking at all ... I can pretty much create what I need by tweaking (and believe me, nothing tweaks like a Fantom !!). I use the Fantom to sequence backing tracks for stuff like drums, bass, strings and sometimes some synth lines.

It's for this Indian film music gig I do, that I need specific sounds, but after SRX-06 came into my life, all is well. This is more than sufficient for playing live through near crappy high-power PA systems, or sometimes whatever the venues offer .

I was simply searching for more convincing sounds for studio use, and I think that for that, I will go the software synth/sound libraries route.

These are 2 totally orthogonal uses, and the twain shall never meet !

BTW, korg talk is totally fine with me ... I was seriously contemplating getting an M3, but didnt want to put the extra money in, without exploiting the Fantom to the fullest first!

OH, I forgot to add ... Ur daughter is very talented, she plays with feeling!!

Hi - I've been reading all the messages on this topic carefully!

I am also looking to buy a new string board, as I'm updating my Fantom-X8.I've been using the SRX boards but for the strings I really need something that can give me realistic effects like Harmonics, Mutes, Col legno, Ponticello, Fingered trem etc... as well as the usual wonderful solo & group string sounds...

Any ideas? Most of the ones I've seen look great but just don't give me the range of sounds that I need

I'm playing for a show, "The Witches of Eastwick" and a lot of my part is a straightforward reduction of the string section... lots of specific instructions which would be a shame to miss, especially if it means I can invest in some new gear....!

hi manishkurup.I am catalin from rumania.i have a question,maybe u can help me.I would realy appreciate that. do u have a fantom s? it seems that i can't record different sounds in different tracks on thr sequencer.Every time i go through patch list trying to select a sound,a weird noicy sound keeps blocking my selection.EVERY time i select a sound, the same sound is im my ear.frustrating. and now the only solution i've found is to select sound from layer/split page from these user banks,but even there when i record the first and the second sound after i select a different part from mixer page the theird sound selected from user bank is counseled.what can i do?maybe the unit is damaged in the record section,since is bought from ebay,used?can u explain me how u do it step by step when u record sounds on different tracks please?Thanks a lot.
