Hi, i'm using v2.1 of the fantom x software and a couple of things are confusing me.
1. Can the librarian read and save the contents of my card patches? So far, i've only managed to make it find my user patches.
2. The Editor can only see my SRX boards in slots A and B, not the srx97 or srx98 in slots C and D. Do i need to set these up somehow, somewhere else?
Cheers
Andy
Fantom editor/librarian problem
Re: Fantom editor/librarian problem
I recently posted something on this site about the Juno G editor not recognising the SRX-97 and 98. I emailed Roland. The response came back that the editors won't recognise them... something to do with them being special give-away boards, yet the real pay-for expansion boards should always be seen by the editor. Pretty stupid, eh? Not very impressive! Obviously, the special edition expansion boards are only meant to tempt more cash out of one's pocket for full expansion boards... It seems a shame that Roland have gone to the effort of putting the samples of these two boards out of reach of the editor.
And I especially can't quite work out what they're playing at regarding the Juno... only one expansion slot but a free board offer (?) ... so surely then less incentive to *buy* another board once the one slot is filled ... and lose the samples/patches of the special edition board! Unless the reality is that many Juno owners are massive synth enthusiasts, but financially limited, like yours truly, in which case Roland may well have been extremely clever...
...no, that can't be the case... otherwise they'd have organised the sample menus within the editor far better than arbitrary chunks of samples in submenu structures, and perhaps grouped them into categories!

Re: Fantom editor/librarian problem
Thanks Rob,
That does seem pretty short-sighted. If we could see and use the waves in the editor we'd be far more likely to go "wow, these sounds are fab. What other SRX boards are available?"
And you're right about the single slot in the Juno-G too.
Doh!

Try to edit the XML-File beneath the editor/librarian. It might work as desired.

Re: Fantom editor/librarian problem
I noticed that the card patches weren't there as well and I just assumed that they didn't bother to implement it! I'd be interested to see if it's User patches only for certain.
Is there a function to swap the User and Card sounds in one go I wonder? I think not.
Mike.

Re: Fantom editor/librarian problem
You have to change all references to samples and multisamples manually. Because of the limited space in the flash ram this is not a big deal.
