Phrase Preview Demos
Phrase Preview Demos
Hi Artemio;
Will you upload phrase preview demos of the Fantom S on the site? I would like to hear some piano, rhodes, Hammond and synth lead sounds.

Re: Phrase Preview Demos
If someone gives me these phrase previews - I will include them. Maybe.
I don't have my own Fantom-S yet.

Re: Phrase Preview Demos
Artemio,
Given your other post (about not wanting large MB files...which I completely understand and support you on), it sounds like all of these things should wait until you get the new site up and running. Until then, posting by links to other sites where people can download demos might be good. Perhaps you could compile a collection of links to forum members' demos on the main page, which would then let you pick and choose files to include on your site (thus reducing the amount of space you have to use up for on-site storage).
As to Erdem's post, I've already provided a link to a very short, quick preview of some of the SRX-07 sounds in another post. That has at least one vintage lead synth sound in it. I'm happy to try to pull together a few short previews of Hammond, Rhodes, and other lead synth sounds. I'll try to do that this weekend, if I can. I think buzzbro was going to come up with a demo of the SRX-02 sound this weekend, if he had time. For now, I'll try to collect all of those in my Yahoo briefcase so that people can access them, if people can give me links to them.
I think everyone is now getting to the point where they are more comfortable with their boards, and I expect there will be a lot more opportunities to have demo songs, patches, tweaked patch previews, etc. in the very near term.
Cheers,
RW

Hi Red Winger;
I couldn't understand what you mean by "another post". If you provide a link to it I would be greatful.

Re: Phrase Preview Demos
Okay, Red Winger, that is a good idea.
If you give me links and descriptions for each link's data - I will add them to "demos" page.

I NEED A LOT OF HELP, PLEASE!!!
Artemio, I have read your posts, you seem informed. I have questions. I just got the Fantom-S, and am using the digi002 board mixer (that came with a new program to me Pro Tools). I can't get it to even pick up sound in the headphones.
I think my question now is about connections.
If you can email me at romanvail@earthlink.net
The thing that first threw me off was the OMS set-up (for Mac). It's not even pickign up the digi002.
But I have the S/PDIF going from the Fantom to the 002 and the MIDI in/out correspond to each other...
If you can, let me knwo step by step what woudl you do to set my gear up? I want to use the Fantom as a MIDI keyboard at the same time as a sound source...is that even possible??

Re: Phrase Preview Demos
Hey artemio,
Here's a link you can use for now:
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/s88freak/ ... mS&.view=l
If anyone wants to have demo patches, songs, etc., available for download from this link, they should email me a link at s88freak@yahoo.com and I'll post the file in my briefcase. It's public, so anyone should be able to download stuff from there. I've got about 80MB of storage, so I should be able to store quite a few demo blurbs/songs before I have to start jettisoning less interesting samples.
Erdem, this is the same link I put in the "other post" I was referring to.
Cheers,
RW

Re: Phrase Preview Demos
Oh, one more thing. Erdem, sorry, but I wasn't able to get to creating a few B-3, etc. samples this weekend. I will try to do so over the next week or so, though, and let you know when I've posted them to my briefcase on Yahoo. It's just a matter of being able to sit down and do it, and my available time over the next couple of weeks is shrinking (sad to say).
Of course, if anyone else here at this great forum is able to accomodate Erdem's request before I can, please feel free to do so.
Cheers,
RW

To Red Winger
Hi Red Winger;
Thank you very much for your concern. I downloaded the file and listened to it. I liken the drum loop although I like the "SRX-01 Dynamic Drum" board more because of its velocity switched snares.
I am waiting for your Rhodes, piano and organ patch previews. Thank you very much again. See you soon.

B-3/EP/Synth Examples
Hey Erdem (and any others interested),
I found some time last night to do a few samples of B-3, EP and synth presets. They are short, and are just what was captured by the skip-back sampler when I was doodling around with the presets, so aren't any great shakes musically, but you may be able to at least get some additional demos of Fantom-S sounds out of them. I've loaded them in my Yahoo Briefcase so that you can easily download them. The link again is:
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/s88freak/ ... mS&.view=l
Below is a copy of my "Whats_in_Here" file from the briefcase, so you know what's included:
What's In This Folder:
This is a collection of demo songs, phrases, patch previews, and other material for the Fantom-S and Fantom-S88 that I've collected from my own use of the board as well as from others.
Unless noted, patch demos are meant only to show off sound examples, not to demonstrate musicianship. Also, unless noted, all of these are played live without use of RPS or arpeggiator. Note that numbers 2-9 below are just skip-back samples of me doodling around with the various patches represented.
1. Smpl0007 - quick song excerpt meant to highlight three of the patches from the SRX-07 board; done by using two tracks with the sequencer (one for bass/drum line and backing Vox, another for synth line)
2. Absolute B - patch demo of a B-3 patch, a bit of gospel blues in style
3. AirySynth - patch demo of a preset synth patch with delay, a bit ethereal
4. DistB -- patch demo of a B-3 patch with a bit of an edge to it
5. Echofun -- patch demo of a preset synth with loads of delay
6. PulsedC -- patch demo of a series of pulsed synth presets, all of a C triad at C5
7. RhodyTrem -- patch demo of a preset stage rhodes with tremolo
8. SoftWurly -- patch demo of a preset wurly patch (this one is very soft, you may need to bump the volume way up....I probably should have boosted the sample, but I left it as played)
9. SpaceyEP -- patch demo of a "spacey" EP preset using the arpegiator and "arpeggio hold" to do a very basic arpeggio

Artemio,
Glad you like it! I'm having fun playing with and learning the skip-back sampler this way, so I will probably do a few more (maybe bread and butter stuff this time) this weekend. I'll post again when I've updated my briefcase.
Cheers,
RW

If I was really cool I think I would say something like “Props out to my boy, Winger!” But seeing as I am not cool I will just say thanks for doing this Red Winger!

Re: Phrase Preview Demos
Wow, a cool intro on page one and a signature line to boot! This is my day!
You guys keep this up, you're going to make me think I can post any old crap and call it sunshine!
Thanks, though. Glad it's helpful. Eventually, I'll start posting songs and more interesting stuff, but I'll try to get a few more patch demos collected 'cuz that was the thing I couldn't get enough of when I was trying to decide which board to buy.
Cheers,
RW
