Fantom-S Multi-swithching power supply?

Post by FantAdam »

Hi guys, After a search I couldn't find the answer so appologies if this has been answered before...

Can I use my European (German) Fantom-S in the US without the need for a voltage converter? i.e. does the internal power supply automatically detect and switch?

It appears the X series does but I'm wondering about the S.

Thankyou in advance.

My FantomX7 states on the back that it works with 220-240V and doesn't mention being able to use 110-120V (for the US). So I think you are wrong in suggesting that the X series can switch voltages. My phone charger and laptop can do this though which is very useful ! The FanX7 has a plate on the back which states the voltage and wattage etc. (and so does my Triton Extreme).

I've just returned from a gig in USA and we were provided with 240V conversion on stage (we specified this before the gig of course). But we also purchased 2 voltage converters before leaving, one for my keys and one for a guitar fx pedal so we could rehearse out there as well.

Suitable 110->240V converters can be ordered from ebay for about 20GBP each + post and packing. In fact, I have two spare converters now which I might be interested in selling. You should note that they're heavy, weighing in at +2Kg each.

Yes, we had this question before;-)
See THIS thread.
The answer is: yes you can use your Fantom X anywhere in the world since the Fantom has a universal switching transformer.

Interesting. Then I wonder why they don't put that info on the back like most other manufacturers do??? How annoying, I shall test this out sometime, thanks for the info.
