pad transmits midi

Post by sb1 »

Hi,
A while since I have posted (went off on a wild Virus tangent - and not come back!!!) so apologies for the dumb question that follows...

Is there no way of stopping the "Rhythm" transmitting over midi and just letting keyboard info get to external modules?

I would like to output note on/off and clock from the keyboard only but seems any rhythm patch being played goes out too.

Looks like FX is putting everything out on one channel so all or nothing scenario.

Seems a bit poor - any workrounds?

Any help appreciated.

thanks,

S

Your post is a little confusing, because
transmitting over midi
and
letting keyboard info get to external modules
is the same thing.

Anyway, as I understand, you want the keyboard to go to the MIDI out, and the pads only go to the Fantom itself, right? Unfortunately you cannot "mute" the MIDI out of the parts this way, there is no such setting. The only workaround is to make your external module not respond to channel 10 (that is where the pads are by default).

Thank you for your response and sorry if my post was in any way confusing but you have indeed answered my question.
This confirms what I thought was the case which still seems a littele surprising for an otherwise well specified keyboard.
I will have to workround this on my external modules or MOTU Timepiece midi processor maybe.
Thanks.

sb
just set the pads to any midi channel that is not used by the external modules
in that way it will not matter that it transmits
