Audio Samples

Post by chrisfry »

Hi everyone. Glad to see we're starting to steer away from guessing what's going to happen at NAMM 08!!!!

I have a issue that I need help on. Last night I hooked up a Shure Mic to my X8 (using Sennheiser Headphones), to record some audio (not into songs yet; just started experimenting with audio). The sounds do register, but are VERY soft (used Skip-back Sampling to hear them), especially in the headphones, and when using MFX, couldn't hear them at all.

I followed the handbook (FXWS11 Audio Tracks - pg 11) to set everything up.

Please help!

Hi
First check if you have your input well set, namely the gain level. After resampling, it is normal to have a lower volume (this is discussed here elsewhere and it's a normal behaviour). To solve this you just have to use the Normalize function.
Cheers

I've been recording lots of samples with the Juno-G and a Sennheiser e835 without any problems. Just make sure the input is set to Microphone and level is all up.

It is CRUCIAL that you have the "Line Input" set to MIC....

If you have it set to anything else you may still hear sound but you WONT get a proper level........

I also recommend using some compression MFX on the input for additional gain if needed....

Well, I'm South African, and with dinner, comes South African wine. Hate to burst the bubble, but there are PRECIOUS Few things that top a night with a South African wine! (Although I must admit that I went home yesterday during lunch to try out some stuff....to make up, you understand!!!!)

Anyway, thanks for the advise on this topic everyone! It seems to work, but, of course, more experimenting is needed.

Art, this forum is a stroke of genius!!!!
