Loop Pops!!

Post by kbone »

One thing that is killing me right now with the Fantom X6 is tracking out tracks in the computer.

Here is my issue. When I'm done creating a song in the fantom x, I load the tracks into nuendo track by track. Each sound is recorded on it's individual track

The problem Im getting is I'm getting pops that records into my tracks when looping. It only pops at the loop point when loading in each track..

Not sure if this is a midi issue or not..Any help on this one???

My compute specs

2.8 core duo procesor
1GB of RAM
250GB HD @ 7200 RPM

Im currently using about 47% ram when running nuendo and about 4% of the processor.

Hey Kbone!

I'm not entirely clear on your specific setup, however, I do know that when you attempt to loop digital audio that the loop points should have an amplitude value of 0. This reduces the likely-hood of a pop at the beginning of a loop.

Cheers!

How do you adjust the amplitude value?? Is this done in my software (Steinberg Nuendo 3) or in the fantom?

Another quick note. I'm running spdif digital out from fantom to the spdif digital in of my sound card.

I mute all my tracks except the track that I'm loading into nuendo. When I hit record on my pc it automatically starts the fantom which is playing the 1 track that is not muted.

During record everything sounds good, but when I play it back on the pc...I hear a pop or click at the end of the loop.

Here is a sample that you can listen to. Listen for the click at the end of the 8 bar loop. This is KILLING ME!

take a really good look in at the waveform in Nuendo and look for the beginning and the end loop points. they should have about the same amplitude and no spiking inside of the loop itself. you may need to fiddle with shaping it up manually. i'm not familiar with Nuendo, so that's about as much as i can tell ya. good luck!

yea, i've done just about everything I can think of. Still no luck.

There has to be another solution to loading tracks into the pc besides pressing play and recording them in individually.

could it be a spdif-sync problem? i had pops before i switched the soundcard (motu travelite) to "slave".

I was wanting to run nuendo as the slave and the fantom as the Master. Not sure how to put Nuendo in slave mode...anybody know how to do this?

I have to set the clock source of my soundcard to "SPIDIF" instead of "INTERNAL". So the fantom acts as master.
