Hi.
I borrowed my bros sd card a pc adapter yesterday. When i stuck the thing in, the fantom froze...so i crapped a little and figured it wasnt wise putting it in when it was powered on.
So i switched off, put the card in, and it started fine. But when i checked the memory for the card, it said 0% availavle, 0% free (the card was empty), then the fantom froze again.
This was a sandisk 1gb sd card..im guessing the fantom just didnt like that card..or is it a recurring problem? I dont think the last owner has done the os upgrade for my fantom , could that be the problem?
..i'm off to buy a new one now..what make is best for compatibility.
Freezes when i put in card
Re: Freezes when i put in card
Havent heard about this problem before other than when the card or adapter was borked. Sandisk and Kingston cards are recommended. Try to get another adapter as well, they are usually in the $8-10 range.

Re: Freezes when i put in card
I experienced the same issue, about 2 days ago I had a pci card slot hook up wth a 2 .gig scan disk.loaded with a whole bunch of samples. That didn't bother me at all. What bothered me the most is that I had a bout 50 svq. files (song) store in the memory card.
. I wanted to cry because these songs were made for my mixtape which took me about a year...I had reggaeton tracks, hiphop- r&b. all gone......Now I don't know what cause this glitch but when i tried to hook the scan disk into my lab top I get a error message saying "error with the i/ output "........If any of you guys can help me to retrieve these files I would really appreciated

rich_funk,
Is the card you used is from a camera or a new one ?
What ever it may be, try formatting the card on the FX. Also the card reader and the card need to be in before you power up the FX. This procedure is applicable on Triton Extreme too.
Also note that the FX is not plug and play equipment when powered up. It may damage the system..This I heard from the Roland Sevice Engineer in SG...

True... memory card need to be formatted at FX itself and always careful not to let other O.S error checked or fix the card in anyway(Window will check for errors.. but cancel that).
At this time of year, alway take caution of static electricity.
One spark can ruin your card permanantly.
Never take out the card while FX is writing on the card. You will end up with 'file system error'.

Fantom freezed
Hi there,
I had the same problem but I've quickly found out what it was.
I have made a backup of the internal memory on my SD card (1GB). Then I inserted a brand new one (2GB), formatted it. Swapped the two cards again, and Fantom freezed. Even after restart (with the card in the slot) Fantom didn't want to boot. I saw only a blue screen.
After restarting without the card Fantom booted as usual.
I suspected the backup I made, so I removed the /BACKUP directory.
Voila, now works everything as usual.
I hope it helps somebody experiencing the same problem.

Re: Freezes when i put in card
Isn't the power supposed to be off when inserting/removing the cards?

Re: Freezes when i put in card
Normally yes, but I've been swapping my cards without turning the power off since November 2004. Without any problems. Important is that there is no active writing/reading operation. (Of course, I don't recommend anybody doing it the way I do.)
