3/4 timing Fantom x

How do I get my Fantom to play a drum pattern in 3/4 time? I've tried to follow the manuals instructions on p169 and I've got the screen to say it's in 3/4 in the beat change field but when I press a drum pad to start a pattern, say pop2, it's still plays in 4/4.

I always use 4/4 so i cant vouch for this but it gives simple instructions here
