Anyone using a mouse with their fantom?
Anyone using a mouse with their fantom?
Do you use a mouse? I have a microsoft wireless usb mouse that isn't working, i dunno why, can anyone tell me a good mouse to get. Do you guys think the mouse improves the workflow/speed of use?
Re: Anyone using a mouse with their fantom?
There were a number of threads on this forum listing mice that work. I'm using a Logitech MX620 wireless. Works great. I use the mouse all of the time and love it.

Same as Quinnx. I have one plugged in just so people who visit can go "ooo, a mouse on your piano" but apart from that it's no use to me really.. Quicker on buttons.

Try using both buttons and the mouse at the same time now thats quicker then one or the other.
The mouse is very good for dragging midi and audio phrases in the song,
way quicker then holding shift and arrow....that is if you have alot to work with.
the mouse has alot of ways of working around projects faster then buttons in alot of ways , it all depends on the user and what they are doing,
If your used to using software the mouse on the G would be helpfull to you.
(whatever gets the job done thats what i say)
I admit i use the buttons more, but its kinda cool to pick up the mouse and work with both.
ps COULD SOMEONE TELL ME HOW LONG IT TOOK TO GET YOUR ROLAND MOUSE AFTER TAKING THE SURVEY?
Peace

Re: Anyone using a mouse with their fantom?
I bought the same mouse as Roland's, via Ebay(from China) for $4 shipped. It definitely speeds up anything and everything, recording-wise, in the G. Being able to drag and drop... is a God send in itself.
I definitely recommend it. I only wish the Fantom had a video out option, being able to have its screen side by side with my Pro Tools screen, would be very useful. ANyone who has opened their G... Exactly how is the screen connected inside? I am just wondering if it isnt possible to hardwire my own video out that mimics the G's screen. Should be fairly simple, as I imagine that they are going RGB internally.
I would love to see the repair manual for the Fantom to know and make my own solution.

Re: Anyone using a mouse with their fantom?
I prefer to use the mouse over the buttons. On that big screen it simply let me target the desired parameter much faster than pushing wildly the cursor buttons.
Besides that, I'm afraid that a heavy use of the buttons could render them insensitive during the time.

I use the mouse in many cases just to preserve the buttons.
I figure I can always buy a new mouse, but if the buttons on the keyboard start to go I don't know what it might cost me.

I prefer to let the mouse operate the buttons. This method is fast and leaves both of my hands free.
My mouse has a light touch, so that should not be a problem, here.
