Another BUG on the Fantom G?

Post by tunukie »

I would like to ask if any one find a problem tripping off the sound patch while playing in liveset for longplay? example, I use at liveset (PRST 51 "which is the piano/strings. When playing the PRESET and controlling the slider for strings and piano, like lowering and increasing the volume. In a matter of minutes, sound in the liveset (PRESET) starts to loose their sustain or sound start to get like a staccato.. Happened to me while playing live on stage.. Does this happened to anyone having the G? Scary!!!

You might be modifying the "attack" and "sustain" of the patches by mistake with the sliders. In some screens the sliders are assigned to part levels (like the main live mode screen), in others they modify patch paramaters.
I've found out that in "favourite" mode they modify patch paramaters and not part levels unforunately, so I always go the live mode screen after selecting a favourite.

No I wasn't modifying. To give you an example when you use the preset 51 patch at liveset. Automatically the sliders are default volume control for each part. By default part 2, and 3 are the volume control for the strings and the POP piano patch. After minutes of continuos playing and lowering and increasing the volume part of the strings suddenly the sounds trip off. or its kinda playing like staccato mode, or the sustain is lost.. You have to do a reset or change preset sounds in order to loose the staccato sounds again. It happened to me 5X now, since playing live on stage... I dunno if this is a bug or my Fantom G has a problem... I wanted to find out if others experience this too on their fantom G.

1. Are you staying on the same screen (main live mode screen) the whole time? Not pressing any button, only moving the sliders?

2. Are you holding the sustain pedal for long amounts of time? If so it may be notes dropping out due to polyphony. This would happen on any keyboard.

If it's neither 1 or 2, then you may have a problem with your G since I've never had that issue.

This surely sounds like a control issue: wrong slider assignment, incidentally recorded control data, extant MIDI gear, etc.

Yes, im staying on the same screen GIL, while using the live set preset #51, Coz I want to play one of my piece that start with just the piano, and in the later part strings come in together with the piano. I do press the sustain pedal at times, like the normal sustain we press playing the piano. :( While in the live set mode. I never change the settings of the slider parameters on the system menu. By default sliders are suppose to be as volume control for each part... :(

And by the way I find this problem at live set Prst #51 and other combination with piano + strings.... Other than that everything is OKey...

Would be a good idea to unplugg any external gear, sustain pedal included, do a Factory Reset, and check how it goes.

Hey mate, have you solved the problems on this post??

Because, I too seem to be having this problem, when in Live mode after a while my piano sounds seems to be cutting off like stocatto, but seems to be fine on my other patches (rhodes, strings etc)

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE HAS FOUND A SOLUTION OR WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM???

I too have the same problem. Only happens in LIVE mode and my board is less than two months old.
Extremely frustrating whilst playing a piano heavy set.

Any solutions? Upgrades? Recalls?

No sorry for the Late reply.. I didnt find any wat to solve this problem. I think this is a system bug that roland engineers needs to correct this. I didnt change or use any sliders to the live sets. Just played for minutes. Maybe after 15-20mins of long play the staccato sounds starts to appear.. ANy one has a fantom G, try playing liveset 51 piano/strings play continuous for couple of minutes. i recommend maybe 15-20mins of playing.. also try using the volume slider of each part like the srtings and piano and see what happens.. Let us know if you encounter this problem too..

even i release sustain the sound (mostly piano i think) is cutted down (staccato). it sounds like the 128 voices are not available... but your right, it start ~15min. ISSUE, not acceptabel. need to stop playing - sounds awful

Haven't experienced the issue described. Have you tried copying the patch to a different location?
Could be area 51 thing.
Seriously, would try relocating the patch.
