ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
1/ It would be very useful if one can mark all or any chosen phrases for deleting them. AS one can make it with the samples.
2/ VEry useful too if one can continue to mix levels of the audio tracks during the resampling function. INDISPENSABLE !
Thanks to Roland fot their work and comprehension

Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
i doubt we ever see another update. sad but true.
Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
Deleting all or more than one phrase is now possible due to the new File Utility function found in OS1.50
However this is not possible to be done in the currently loaded project.
You must load something else and after that you can proceed.
I wish we could be able to merge phrases between them and to extract certain midi channels or messages out of a phrase into another one (even though this is not really critical, there are plenty of phrases to make use of).
Oh, I just remembered. For Christ's sake Roland, do something with the song editing to stop jumping in another place in the song after phrase/sample delete! :X

Except for some reason when you move a to a directory/folder the g decided to read the entire directory listing and can take an enormous amount of time for no good reason and slows the whole file system thing down..
The best solution is to use a computer to delete them.

Making the names you give to sample and phrase files visible on a computer, instead of the current 0001, 0002, 0003, and so on, would represent an enormous improvement.
Currently you have to make detailed notes cross-referencing the data with the numbers before you dare delete anything at all.

Greetings to all fantoms! Roland knows about all lacks of this model. If they make G6 made who then will buy their following workstation?
Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
@tim
Unfortunately, I don't think that the market works as logically as you suggest.
The flaws of the Fantom-G are not the sort of flaws that you discover quickly. Rather, it takes weeks or months of use before you reach the point where you realise the problems, particularly around data management. Firstly, you have to learn how to use it and, secondly, you need to accumulate enough programmed material for the issue to manifest themselves.
I bought the Fantom-G because of some very satisfactory experiences with smaller Roland products - the SP-606 sampler and the SH-32 desktop synth. No doubt some people will continue to make that migration.

Some function from Fantom-X series would be nice
- Auto Load Selection Function (Samples, Arpeggios, Phrases, etc)
- Fast Samples Assign to a Multisample
- Multi-chords Chord-Memory (like Juno-D and Juno-Gi)
- Fantom-G Librarian Converter (import patches from Fantom-X, Juno-G, etc)

Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
For me, the most useful enhancements would be as follows:
** A utility to enable easier transfer of data between projects. In particular, this should allow you to transfer songs from one project to another and automatically take their component phrase/sample data with them. If a phrase from one song was located in the phrase list position (eg, sample slot 0013) as one from a different song, the utility would find an alternative place to put it while retaining its association with the song.
** Enabling audio loops to play back at different velocities. For example, I have a song that starts off with a sample of a rain storm. On my previous workstation, I was able to program that sample to play back with gradually lowering velocities so that it appeared to fade out as the song started. That isn't possible on the Fantom-G. I have to create separate samples with different volume levels and every one of them would has to load into the internal memory when the Fantom-G boots up. This is wasteful of RAM resources and also slows up the creative process.
** Enabling audio loops to play back in part. At the moment, a sample programmed into a song has to play in full. Being able to have the sample stop playing after, say, a quarter measure is potentially useful - for having a stop/start sequence in a song, for programming satisfactory endings to song, such that the song ends on the first beat of the main sequence. It would help with achieve stuttering type effects on vocal samples too - ala "n-n-n-nineteen".
** Improving the scope for song-wide changes, such as being able to instruct every MIDI track in a song to transpose to another key. Currently, this can only be done on a phrase-by-phrase basis. However, a single track within a song might have several phrases and the song as a whole could have dozens or even hundreds. Transposing is something you should be able to do quickly, on the fly, to suit the needs of a particular singer or just for experimentation to see what works better with an arrangement. It shouldn't be a process that takes hours. Every other sequencer I've owned could do this.

Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
I if was engaged in working out G6 before to throw out it on the market have planted to play on it some fans and have revealed all lacks at work on G6 and already then having finished have offered its buyers, but at Roland the position.
Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
Tim, that online translator you are using is bloody terrible

Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
Solo for tracks and mixer
Re: ADD ON REQUESTS FOR THE NEXT VERSION 1.6 OR 2.0
These are the features I would like to see in the next version:
- route metronome to output 3/4
- more metronome sounds (a little more friendly (-: )
- enable modification of external parts transpose directly from the fantom and not only from the editor
- enable to configure different audio input settings for different live sets (volume, effects etc.)

Ladies and gentlemen, with unmeasurable sadness I have to report that Grammar Wombat has just passed away due to a seve heart attack.
