Move songs between projects...?

Post by SpinNinja »

Hey it's me again. The internal sampling memory on my G8 is full, so I recently began using a 1GB memory stick. Here's my problem though: I have 2 projects - one in the Fantom's internal memory and another that I just created on my memory stick. I want to move and/or copy some of my songs from the project on the Fantom to the project on the memory stick. Is there a procedure for this? If so, could someone kindly walk me through it? Thanks

Does that second project also contain songs? If yes, this will be a problem because sequencer phrases will coincide. If that second project doesn't yet contain songs, just use your computer to copy the SEQ folder from one project to another.

It is really essential have a solution for this from Roland's behalf. And until Roland provides a solution (IF they finally decide to do so), I'd like to see Nexoe make a Yase-like application with the ability to handle songs and to rearrange/renumber phrases and audio tracks that are needed with each song, so that there would be no conflicts with the existing phrases in the target project.

This is just another usefull function that exists on the X that was not continued on the G.

You could access internal patches and samples and the currently loaded project samples and patches.
all patches as samples stored internally where referred to as USER:xxxxx

But again..
Knowing how the G works, a bit of forward planning will help you avoid the problem in the future.

Quinnx., of what use was the internal storage on the X if it was just 32 MB? I never ever stored anything there, except for patches - but we have 512 patches in a project now anyway.

unfortunately I think the only way is to hook up the fantom to your computer via USB, and manually transfer the files from the fantom to the USB.

Art:
I found it useful for storing basic waveforms for synthesis and other as well as reusable patches that where always available for use either with internal projects or external ones.
where as at the moment your current project always changes and can become big and bulky and if you have patches and or samples you want available in the next project there is no simple solution to keeping them available for the next project without alot of hard work to clean the existing project.
where as having an internal and external project available allows one to prioritize..
important and critical patches/waveform remained available at all times in the internal memory (which could also be backed up) and made patches and sounds common to all projects with other patches and sounds that where directly related to any project loaded with that project.

The G does currently have an internal project but it has to be loaded separately unlike the x.
