Using more than 16 midi tracks?

Post by tylawdaboss »

Hello all. Okay, I've read this forum and googled a lot myself but i can't seem to understand. Call me dumb I guess. Is it possible to use more than 16 midi tracks in one song? In the Sequencer I see there are 16 midi tracks and 24 audio tracks. I like to add drums on there own tracks (kick- trck 1, snare- trck 2, etc...) but after I fill up 16, am I completely out of luck for adding more midi? Any help is appreciated.

There are only 16 midi parts in all workstations.

Fantom-G has 128 MIDI tracks. Tracks are different from MIDI Parts.

For the drums, you can definitely record separate midi phrase for kick, snare, hats... etc.

When you hit record, select a different track to record on... You can use scroll up/down to select a different midi track.. after recording each drum sound...

first record kick... save the phrase
then hit record, and select a different track, record snare, save the phrase.

Please read the workshop documents on Fantom-G's support site on rolandus.com

remember you only get 16 midi parts in all workstations, including fantom-G.

yes that is 16 internal midi parts...then you have 16 more external parts
that is available using another instrument connected to the fantom, and if you buy two expansion cards you have 32 more midi parts...that makes it altogether 64 midi parts...plus the 24 audio parts as well...right?

I havent tried it, but if you use the pads you can add drums that way, i think.

Otherwise, if you use one of the 16 parts for the drums, you can add almost as many tracks as you want on that part, until the song is full...
