If I was shopping for headphones right now, I would get either these or these.

I have the Sony MDR-7905HD Professional headphones. They are highly rated by studio professionals and the Bass response is outstanding when compared to many other Brands. And they are so comfortable you can basically wear them all day if you want. They have actually come down in price recently too. :)

My advice though is that if at all possible try each headphone in person first and then make your decision based on your own personal preference. What is good for one person may not be the best solution for another person. ;) So try before you buy if possible. :)

I'm not a huge fan of Sennheiser mics, but their headphones are incredible. I use HD580s right now, but will probably pick up a pair of HD600s to replace them soon.

The nice part is how all the parts can be taken apart easily and ordered separately. The cable became tweaked and I got a replacement within days. Popped the sucka in and... perfect headphones yet again.

Have a pair of Sony 7506es as well, and they're cool for traveling and listening to movies on a laptop, but I'd never mix with them. Of course you shouldn't mix with headphones anyway, but I've released stuff to clients that were mixed on the Sennheisers.

Also use Fostex T-40s, but only for recording vocals, as they have good coverage (to avoid spillage into the mic) and are a bit dull-sounding (which makes the singer project a bit better).
