How to transpose external zones...

Post by lordmoller »

Does anyone know how to transpose the external zones in a "live" setup.

When I have different zones sending on different midichannels i want to be able to transpose some of them an octave or two up/down.

Thanks

You simply can't do this. This is one of Fantom-G's biggest ommisions, and you can do this only if you use the Fantom-G editor to fix your Live sets, not from the Fantom-G itself.

Yes, you can do this with the Fantom-G Editor.

As Cyclops said, this can only be done with the software. Please contact Roland (as I have done) and ask them to fix this!!!

I have an X, not a G, so bear with me but would it by any chance also be possible to define the key range for an external keyboard using the Editor? By this I mean that a G part responds to MIDI data coming out of the secondary keyboard into the Fantom only for a specific note range.

This is not possible on the X or from the G itself but I have never tried nor had the opportunity to try this on the software editor.

If this were possible it would make it so much easier to use the Fantom (G) with a secondary keyboard to play certain parts (using the G as the sound engine) including elaborate splits and layers both on the Fantom's internal keyboard and _different_ splits/layers on the secondary keyboard. The 'Remote Keyboard' switch doesn't work for this as both the Fantom and secondary keyboard will play identical parts and have identical layers and splits.

Roland told me to setup key ranges/zones on the secondary keyboard but that is far less practical then being able to simply set the key range each part in the G responds to. I don't want to have to setup a performance with appropriate key splits on the remote (MIDI) keyboard for each performance that I create on the G (or X).
