FANTOM YASE

Post by daztickle »

I am thinking of buying Fatom YASE, even though i think with the limitations of the OS for sampling on the G Roland should be providing it for free! However after downloading it from the site when i try to access the file I get an error about the ZIP file being corrupted.

I have tried this on three different machines at 3 locations and get the same result, can someone else try it and see if its ok for them.

I have emailed the company who have been helpful but they say they have tested it and get no problems.

Alternatively if someone has the demo and wants to email it to me that would be good too.

I assume that you can download the demo off their site and just activate it using your license key. Also, you should try a different archive application.

No i havent bought a license key yet, as the demo becomes the full version when you enter the license key, i cant even install the demo in the first place as it keeps telling the the zip file is corrupted.

Once ive had chance to try the demo then will buy the licence.

It's possible to download the demo now.

I tried it and i get an idea how things works. Import an Akai program is a great feature. I hope Jens really solved the crashing problem with the new update.

Is there any advantage of editing/moving patches with Yase? I didn't try that one...if possible at all?

If you want I can sell you a Fantom Yase licence for half the price. I have changed my gear.

@anton:
yes, the biggest advantage is that roland's own software does not support multisamples and YASE fully supports this.
also the loop-detection works very good in YASE.

I don't know if this is allowed by Nexoe? I don't think so?

Crashing issue solved. Please download the newest YASE version 2.003.003.

"I don't know if this is allowed by Nexoe? I don't think so?"
--> Right, this is not allowed, by the rules of the software license agreement.

"Is there any advantage of editing/moving patches with Yase? I didn't try that one...if possible at all?"
--> Yes there are some advantages:
1.) You can reorganize complete patches/multis/samples
2.) You can edit patches as with your Fantom-Editor
3.) The newest version has a Wizard with several TVA templates - a very handy feature for sound designers (I missed it in the Roland Editor)
4.) Patches / Multis / Samples are "transparent" now, mark a patch and select "Show Dependencies" from the menu.
5.) You can delete Patches/multis with their assigned Samples (YASE checks whether they are used by another sound)
6.) You can export/import patches and multis, means you can move them to another project.
7.) Much more cool editing features, please refer to the manual (i.e. SPLIT CAPTURE™, ...)

Best - Jens.

Just a note: Yase its the only way to copy multisampled Fantom G sounds, but still have flaws. You can copy all samples and multisample definitions, but the sound patch itself does not copy right, you need use the librarian, copy the patch again, and reset the multisamples to the patch. Still a lot lot better than create the multisample by hand.

@lisandro:

"but the sound patch itself does not copy right,"
-->do you mean that YASE has problems with copying the patches or the librarian?

btw, I think that a new version of librarian should support multisamples, too.

The problem its on Yase. You need the librariam in the end to finish the job, but the big task its made by Yase.

@lisandro
If you mean the stereo assignment of multisamples inside of patches --> fixed. Please download YASE Rev. 2.003.004.
This fixes also import assignment issues.
Thx and best - Jens.

Why do you need the editor for? I thought that YASE was a complete solution for multisamples??

I'm thinking about buying YASE, but somehow my feeling stops me to do so. I didn't get a good feeling of the program.
Just the "look and feel" and the crashing of the demo (fixed now!). MAybe I wait a little bit longer and see what the coming update bring us.

Can someone really recommend this software? Is it really THE solution for multisampling with the FG?

@anton:
i don't see your problems or can't understand your question...
a) roland's software does not support multisamples, YASE does this.
b) jens from nexoe is always reacting very fast to fix problems.

do you know any alternative???

...and please kepp in mind: the operating system of fan g has still many problems.

best,
dan
