Audio Drop Out When Program Change is Sent to The G

Post by Needlz »

Is there any way to avoid the audio dropouts when program changes are sent to the Fantom G? I use a mpc as my sequencer and every time it sends a program change to the Fantom there is a slight dropout at the beginning of the selected sound...I'm in Studio Mode and I have each bank set to USAM....I'm playing back samples from my sample list...Also, I'm not sending LSB and MSB messages...just a regular program change so that the G knows which patch to play when a particular sequence is pulled up....help!

Why not use the live mode?

If you're changing studio sets, the G needs to reload settings for 16 parts and 22 effects processors, and that will take a moment. If you're changing patches within the parts, it will be faster, but still the effects will re-initialize.

Try setting the pg and cc changes at clock #000, and then place all note info at 001, or 002. No later than 010 to keep your timing integrity. I do not use an external sequencer with my G, but I used to use an MC-50 with a Roland module and it seemed to work fine. Hope this helps.

This is all within the same Studio set. Is there anyway to bypass the effects processor within a Studio Set? Or some sort of global bypass? I'm just using raw samples from the Sample List...no Fantom patches...Actually now that I think about it I may of had one or two unused parts with Fantom patches in the Studio Setup. I wonder if removing those would help.

I need to look more into Live mode but most of my beats use more than 8 parts...

I'd have to research how to do that on the mpc but off the top off my head it seems a little time consuming for each sequence...Unless I can find some sort sort of global setting that does it...
