Post by piaknowguy »

Hi all! I haven't checked this out yet, but Sudosonic sent me an email. Here is a link.

Cheers!

Disk 1 - Sound Editing

1. Introduction (Runtime 3:09mins)
In this video you'll get an overview of work flow on song mode for the Motif XS.

LOL, looks like they forgot to edit the labels on this....

Has anyone used DVD from this company in the past? Are they any good?

DO NOT waste your money on anything from Sudosonic!!! I have 2 of their DVD's, and they are the most boring, dry, and almost unwatchable DVD's I've ever seen. The one for the Alesis Fusion is horrid...and I paid $60 for it.

Move on...wait for Roland to put theirs out (if it's not already). It was supposed to ship in June.

I must agree with what AK-Jake said. I watched the Fantom-X demo videos and the way they do them is totally boring. First, they say too many unnecessary words. Second, the instructions are not that clear, they miss giving some attention on certain crucial steps.

I looked at the "Lessons list" and it looks like the tutorial is meant for those who can not read the quick start manual. I mean It basically goes trough every button, that's it.

I'm looking forward for a reasonably priced in-depth video tutorial with great examples and ideas. A Tweak-book video?

Thanks for the feedback....

I gathered that the quality may be up to par when they mention the XS on the Roland Fantom G page....

I also agree with the negative feedback. I picked up the set for the Fantom X. Think I got through half of a DVD before I realized it is pretty useless.

In fact, it is Sudosonic that convinced me that you don't really need DVD tutorials for Roland workstations to begin with. While I can definitely see some use for something like Logic Studio, these Roland tutorials feel a bit like overkill.

I will admit that the official Fantom X tutorial was pretty good. I'd be curious if it is the same guy again or not.

Guys, if you wait a couple months, there WILL be a video tutorial from Sinevibes. We're in the process of moving in to our new apartment, and there will be my new studio where I'll be able to shoot videos. The only thing I need is to pick up a good camera!

Awesome! I would be very curious to see what you would create for a tutorial. Practical applications and interesting twists on workflow technique would be much better than spending 5 minutes discussing the shift button.

Artemiy-

Go into programming the Arpeggiator, would you? I haven't even figured out how to ACCESS the Arp parameters, and there's NOTHING in the manual about it!

I could use some help on learning the sequencer, too.

Thanks.

Okay guys, you got me! I will start a new topic in the new Sinevibes and we can discuss things there. But with all your support and feedback - I am really up for it!

Yes! Here at Roland Japan (sort of) we are all very excited about Agent Art's mission to create tutorial videos. I am, however, personally a little disappointed that he refuses to use the perfectly good video camera and equipment that Roland Japan (sort of) has graciously supplied for his use! We have obviously spoiled him; he wants a Roland baseball cap, he's moving into a new 'luxury' apartment, and now he wants a . . . how does he word it? . . . a good camera! What is wrong with this one? I ask you!

You raise a good point, Secret Roland Agent! Everyone knows that any SERIOUS filmmaker shoots on FILM and NOT on video!!!

Gimme that old camera any day...it looks like a Super-8 from hell!!!
