Fantom G For Prog Rock/Metal/Techno?

Post by Arctica »

So I've heard the G's pianos, EPs, strings and brass, and it all sounds good to my ears (even if the brass could use a touch of work), but how about the heavier side of things?

Are leads, basses and techno sounds covered? Basically, what I'm asking is: can you get some downright nasty sounds out of this beast, or will I have to look elsewhere for that, such as a Virus or a vintage Korg?

I've been debating the purchase of an old Triton and Virus Rack, but I'm wondering if either or both would be unwarranted with the power of the G...

Now that we have Multi Sampling - Why not pop a load of Mellotron samples in the G ?

There is no "ready to go" performances/live sets that you can use for metal/techno production, you will have to program your own sets. Synth sounds ok. If you considering Virus Rack- I have it for sell with good proce, also Waldorf MicroQ.

Mellotron? I'll have to Google it. I've heard references to them, but don't actually know what they are...

Oh, I know I'll have to program it myself, I'm just wondering if the G has the the potential to sound "dirty," if you know what I mean.

Astral, drop me a line at dave.b.fraser [at] hotmail.com if you would regarding your synths for sale.

Why doesn't Roland give us some of those great large choir samples from SRX-06 in a downloadable format so we can put them on a USB stick? There is no way I'm going to replace my X with a G unless I can get those sounds on it. I use them a lot in our progrock band.
