Namm 2010
Re: Namm 2010
I think the biggest hurdle to ARX V-PIANO is that there's alot of processors in V-Piano ... If done, it might not be the same thing ... and then the grumbles ...
Re: Namm 2010
i don't think that a v-piano arx would be the best for roland to do as you would actually save money if you bought a g8 and a v-piano arx unless they made the arx extremely expensive but and piano dedicated arx that gives you a slight idea of what the v-piano can do is something that i could see coming from roland
Re: Namm 2010
I'd prefer an 128MB or a 256MB sampled piano in the form of a new project (free or payed, they can choose) and leave us use the ARX slots for things that desperately need modeling technology, like analog-type sounds or organs.

Re: Namm 2010
An ARX VA synth that could recreate several classic synths and drum machines (Jupiter 8, System 100, SH-101, Juno-106, D-50, TB-303 etc) or a modelled Organ board; or something like a V Synth card would make me look at the technology in a new light.
I'm not interested in the current boards, I think the focus is too narrow for the money and I'm not wowed by the sound of 1 or 2 (can't comment on 3, because I've only heard it on-line).

Re: Namm 2010
I wonder how pissed you guys will if there will be no new ARX at NAMM
There wasn't a hint of a new board coming and all the gossip here is purely speculative... Not that I would not like to see a new ARX board, of course I would, but I am just sayin'...

Re: Namm 2010
Hi Artemy,
Which ARX Board would you like to see at Namm?

Re: Namm 2010
Art- itd be nice of someone could post up on boygeneius and engadget for hints on upcoming ARX, huh? :p
Re: Namm 2010
I've said this before, when the first ARX cards came out...
(And here I agree with Andy), for me, a V-Synth card will be tops !!
What a killer combination

Re: Namm 2010
I personally think that Roland could easily re-package SH-201 and VK-8M into ARX boards and sell 1000s of them without any problems... I really hope I am right

Re: Namm 2010
Hummm... SH-201 without it's control surface ? Do you really think so ?
Regarding the VK-8M, I agree, that will be a very inteligent move.

Re: Namm 2010
I work with my Fantom-G and Native Instruments B4 II in daily basis and I can control various aspects of the virtual organ with the Fantom-G's sliders, knobs and buttons. If this can be done very easily with a third-party program, imagine what could be done if a virtual organ can sit inside an ARX board. And the VK-series algorithms are truly amazing, both tonewheel-wise and rotating-speaker-wise. I believe Roland has to invest in such an expansion board. I, for one, would gladly buy one, provided it's reasonably priced of course.
And this could be a very important reason to invest into a Fantom-G. No other workstation (apart from the Korg OASYS with its organ modeller, but the OASYS has been discontinued now) will then have a virtual organ (not sample-based, but modelled). This could take the Fantom-G light years beyond other Roland's and competition's synths/workstations.
Concerning an ARX VA board, I wish that we could have one with various models of Roland's legendary analog machines, like the Jupiter, Junos, TRs and TB. If we were to have only one modelled machine, I'd surely prefer the Jupiter. Give us 8 or 16 voices of polyphony and 4 parts of multitimbrality and we'd all be happy.

Re: Namm 2010
ARX-B3 and ARX-VA have got to be the top two wishes in the FG community... that means we'll probably see ARX-Nashville Guitars and ARX-Clarinet
I agree with Cyclops, an ARX-B3 board in a Fantom-G would be a killer combination especially with the G's awesome sliders.
An ARX-SH201 would be awesome as well, a new SH-201 is practically the same price as an ARX card anyway!
ARX-VPiano is a pipe dream, don't even think of it guys
At the very least it would be a waaaaaaay cut down version of the V-Piano, there's just no way to cram $8000 worth of technology onto a $500 ARX card. (well there probably IS, but Roland's financial department would probably want to disagree)

Re: Namm 2010
Okay, so a VK-8M ARX card it is!! It would indeed be a HUMONGOUS seller in my opinion, especially if Roland decides to put more than "20" Organ patches in it right?
Sorry...
Another "brilliant" idea mentioned by kenchan is an acoustic guitar (or guitar in general) ARX card. We all know that the ac guitars on the Fantom G could use a boost in that department, as well as the electric guitars too if you ask me. To round things out, why not throw in some Distorted into the mix too?
But alas.. Artemiy makes a profound point, and that is Roland is being quieter than a church mouse sipping large quantities of Nyquil. Which makes another very good point. Which is, maybe Roland is indeed "asleep" at the switch?? As in NO NUTTIN'! Wouldn't that be astounding!! :O No nothing at NAMM - whatsoever? >> For Fantom G owners that is.
I know, I know... don't put your cart before the horse and just wait and see. Gotcha.
