Re: Studio pictures with Fantom G
Here's my little set-up at home
Tyros 2, Korg M3. Motif XS6. Fantom G7, Carlsbro mixer, Fostex MR16 and Behringer Truth 2031A monitors. Also have a Korg N5ex which was replaced by the G7 and is for sale.
If I need any more sound output then I have a Carlsbro 500W rig and speakers.
I built the room from scratch so was able to install the cable trunking and cable trays to keep all the wires out of the way. - always a good idea!

Another view of the above
Re: Studio pictures with Fantom G
And a third view - sorry couldn't find out how to upload all 3 in one post

^^^^^^^ above post (with the 3 different picture views) ^^^^^^^^
are all those keyboards really needed to get done what you need to get done? it just kinda seems like there's a lot of repeating. Not that you have to explain to me, but it would be good if you could.
(it may help me explain it to the wife (HAHAHA) so i can get a set up like that.
I'll post pics of my setup once my g7 gets here later this week.

Well I tell my wife they are all necessary and she believes me! Seriously though it's a fair question and I dare say I could get by with the Tyros as an arranger keyboard but using the other keyboards with a DAW is a challenge for me and I like the idea of comparing the 3 best workstations. They are all different , some are better at some functions than others and I enjoy finding out what they all can do. I find the Motif easiest to work with, the M3 the most challenging and the G7 the best for live work and sampling.
The kids bought them all for me out of their inheritance - I really must get round to telling them and thanking them for their generosity.
Look forward to seeing your set-up

Re: Studio pictures with Fantom G
Nice rig, but I'm curious about the stool (!). Is it from a Technics organ? My dad's got one that looks exactly the same.
Re: Studio pictures with Fantom G
Yes , I used to have a Technics U-90 organ, bought in 1982 when I sold it I kept the stool because of the storage space in it and it was comfortable.
It's now seen better days - well spotted

Re: Studio pictures with Fantom G
spike nice setup. i like how you have power running all around your gear up high.
Re: Studio pictures with Fantom G
Thanks - besides looking a mess cables everywhere are dangerous so I routed them through trunking which hides most of it. The problems start when you want to take some gear out on a gig which luckily isn't very often.
Re: Studio pictures with Fantom G
spike- that's smart.
but you can always buy more cables, right?
im pulling out my old old old original fantom from the dead, installing a new SRX12 in there later on in the week and going to start jammin' on it in my other room. (no more space in my music room... too small). its funny how different settings (room) and different gear/different sounds inspire new music. it's great. i recommend it to anyone that composes music.

Yes you're right and I've got some spare cables.
I also agree about new gear or sounds setting the innovative brain cells in a new direction. That's what make these forums so interesting, hearing what other people do then translating that into new ideas, enthusiasm is usually on a high when new gear is purchased. I've so many ideas running around in my head I don't know if I've got enough years left to make anything of them.
I was lucky in having moved house a couple of years ago and was able to build a music room extension, it certainly renewed my enthusiasm.
Good luck with your jammin' project
