thanks tom its a 320 year old cottage with a nice vibe.. peaceful. to right the g is a brilliant one stop solution. i love to get know something really well so it becomes second nature and you can just make music rather than having technical issues running at the back of your mind, ( learning how does this work connecting this to that or pc bug problems etc ) and i knew from the specs that this machine would do it all for me. love the one box solution. clears the mind from unnecessary distractions. switch it on and you know exactly what its going to do:D dont want dont need any more gear. nirvana !! ok i will get an arx vocoder card if they ever make one as that is something genuinely new and different. but no more boxes and things. and i know it will work and integrate just fine. great!!

Johnc:

I'm the polar opposite when it comes to gear even though I agree with you're philosophy.
I had a very small setup 100 years ago and pushed the rig to the limit; a Minimoog, Oberheim 2-8 step sequencers and a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5.

I've just moved a G7 into the studio as master controller and it looks like this. Granted, this is my job now,
writing for documentary film and the more tone sources I have the better. Believe it or not, all the hardware gets used as well as Spectrasonics Omnisphere, Stylus and MOTU MachV software pluggins.

Tom : I love your studio style ;) Cabinet rack is great idea. I have FG7 and 02R same position like you. When I see your studio photo, I feel big relax. Very nice and compact studio.

Thanks EX:
Compact it is! 10' X 11"!
We have an old house by US standards; Built circa 1800's. All rooms, with the exception of the living room are very small.
The rack idea was my wife's. I studied architecture and she thought out the idea. Go figure...
Everything in the room is reachable from the chair with the exception of the computers which are in a closeted rack. If it were not for the window, I would go crazy! We live in the northeast, just southwest of Boston and it's great to watch the Fall colors and the snow fall from my window when working.

My little home setup, that I use for current recordings. The Fantom-G, the V-synth Xt, a rack line mixer and the Kurzweil Micro Ensemble.

I use the same setup on stage, with the add of the Oberheim OB12.

>holy moly! V-Piano.....that's awesome! how's the sound on that beast... is it really what they advertise for? I bet it is but what you think Kenchan.

en76- ive had the VPiano for about 3months now and I have to say I love it. i play it almost every morning and night. although it has a lot of different sounds there's only 3 that i really like. American, Silver and All Triple. those are my favorites. the dynamics and the texture of the
sounds are very addictive. beautiful harmonics, long decay time.

i dont do much tuning of the sound itself but i did alter a little bit in some of the zones of the keyboard to my liking. i like how you can make your own piano and just keep it virtually forever.
