Well, my youtube video on the Fantom G VST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTsNTwEz31M) is getting about 100 views every day (over 8100 so far in a few months) and it has a link to the new 'overdue' video. It's gotten around 100 views during its first hour, so...

I think people all over the world should know about the Fantom G OS 1.10 issues before they commit to buy an expensive product that fails to deliver on so many mission critical aspects.

I basically ended up paying 1400€ extra (macbook+logic pro) just to get Scissors+glue, fade in/out myself, but that doesn't still give me midi export or fix the problems with the current OS.

Roland, it is **time for the update**!

Diametro, we're not in for a revelation, just for a useful keyboard update ;-)

(And yes, nice film ...)

I still believe Stanley Kubricks best film would have been 'Napoleon' thou.
“the greatest movie Stanley Kubrick never made.”

Let's hope the Fantom G OS update won't be like that...

A petition or expression of dissatisfaction is all fine and well but realistically, anyone expecting anything even remotely coming close to an update (major or minor) prior to NAMM 09(which is less than 3 months away)should prepare to be dissapointed.

After while, especially the Roland vets who've purchased much of their gear throughout the years, should know the companies mode of operation when it comes to communication - and that is Roland is going to do what they want, when they want because quite frankly they can. (obviously i don't agree with this practice but thats 'just the way it is).

Way too many people all over the world buy their gear for them to feel concerned about market share loss. Wether you like it or not, if you continue to patronize their business knowing these things then you really can't complain.

Bottom line, more people need to learn to "whistle why you work(make music while you wait)" an update is dropping for NAMM 09 and all that's required is a little faith and patience.

Still a happy Fantom X user 'patiently waiting' to see what NAMM 09 brings for the "G".

Keys BeMe. Througout the years, users did not have a voice, like we have today. Believe me, I am a Roland 'vet'.. 25 years as a Roland user.

Things have changed. We now have the internet to voice our opinion. It is no longer a question of Roland throwing all snailmail into a huge fire and not giving a shit.

When a user posts a negative comment on a forum or a video on Youtube, it will get as many pairs of eyes watching it as when Roland posts a product video on Youtube...

If Roland decides to wait until NAMM09 with the update then Roland is the one who should prepare to be disappointed. Disappointed that their brand name has lost value because the internet is saturated by negative comments about their gear and about their policy.

Negative comments DO affect peoples buying habits.

Roland needs to change it's ancient policies, because it is not working anymore, as you can see.

Yes and Yes...but...

Namm 2009 is my guess also.

And, again, it will not have all the expected fixes.

My begging for Roland to surprise us before the holidays is coming to a stand still.

I am losing hope.

Again, it is not killing me for what I am currently playing (just live stuff), but if I were doing studio stuff, I would be very frustrated.

Namm09 is my guess also, unfortunately.

So I will "complain" or "whine" (tell things how they are) until Namm09 because I believe that without letting Roland know what I think, things will never change.

I know what I am doing will change things, because I have changed many other things/policies during my life, why should Roland be different?

I have worked as consultant in the past for large companies helping in the creation of multi-lingual customer service centers for large companies in the Roland caliber, and larger, so I know how things work and how they do not work.

The situation now is that it sucks for the users, it sucks for the local retailers and it sucks for Roland. Maybe that should tell something?

Now all that is needed is for Roland Japan to call for a board meeting, decide to get in 2008 mode and start changing policies. If not for anything else, then for saving money for the company. Doing things right cost less than doing things wrong.

This is easier than voting, because in voting every man only gets one vote. Here you get hundreds, if you want to. If you want to, you can also do nothing. But I believe in activism, because I have seen what it does. But you have the right to be passive, of course.

Very well said Jimknopf, and I agree.

It’s been long enough.

The MV-8800 can be thought of as an MV-8000 running version 4.0. Its OS was already extremely mature upon release.

I simply do not accept Namm 09 as time for an OVERDUE update. At least adding SMF export is needed much earlier.
If they did a good job there's still enough goodies left for Namm (feature and sound updates). Bug fixes need other time frames and have *nothing* to do with Namm, if they have only a bit of respect for their customers.

And I don't care much if they listen to our concern or not. They can do what they want, and after we get a picture of their behaviour, we also can do what we want. Lots of choices on both sides. Jessej is right that we live in times where ignoring customers does not pay, because we can communicate experiences worldwide and to thousands of people spreading the news to even more.

So let's not speculate about their behaviour, as long as we can decide about our own.

I will stay on board of this thread as long as they delay the update, no matter which effect this may have or not, and no matter how long it takes. And I am *sure* that acting as self-confident customer with lots of choices *always* pays.

They will have to learn at least one lesson: to get a lot of unwelcome publicity worldwide if they don't care...
Times of customers as silent sheep are gone.

I agree with TAW, The MV OS is very mature, that's why I can't simply understand how the Fantom G sequencer can be so damn immature. It doesn't justify anything, on the contrary, it shows even more the Roland neglect imho. It's not like it is the first time Roland is making a sequencer.. they should know better.

And if Roland has the balls to CHARGE for the bugfix/hotfix/update, I will take that as an insult.
