After performing a factory reset, the Fantom G gets stuck, and you have to power down. (Version 1.02.)

Jim,

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but the reason the horizontal slider is not working in the song window....isn't that because there's not data long enough to warrant scrolling?

When you go in to a new song, it has a length of 19 bars or something but with no data in it, there no need in scrolling.

I recorded a phrase, copied it a few times to make it go outside the window and then horizontal scrolling works.

Vertical scrolling alwatys works because there are ALWAYS 128 midi and 24 audio tracks.

Or do you mean something else?

@timeout: wrong thread, but yes, I used the same settings. You can anytime adjust them if you feel the need for the less good Juno keybed.

@L56
Interesting: then your horizontal slider works, and mine doesn't.
I first stumbled over it not with an empty song, but with the demo songs: and there's plenty of measures filled in them...

Do you have the same OS version (1.02)?

Not confirmed here. I did a factory reset with v. 1.02 and had no problems...

Hi Jim
Thanks for starting this. G8 with 1.02 over here
I confirm your 3 "bugs"
Would like to add:

1 - Unable to select MFX1/2 output from the Effects Routing screen in Studio Mode (in the upper right corner, in the small blue square, right below the green "chorus" and the red "reverb" labels). You only have access of A/B/1/2/3/4
Workaround: Go to Part View - Output/EFX - Output - select MFX1 or 2. Strangely enough, if you go back to the Effects Routing screen the blue square now shows "---"

2 - I haven't tested this to full extent (still reading the Manual, now with the G in front of me ;-)) but I have not found yet a way to memorize the Tempo in a Studio/Live/Single setting. This seems to be "song dependent" - the tempo is ALWAYS the last selected song Tempo. I also haven't seen any "Tempo Override" like we had on the X. This would be very serious since would make unusable any Tempo related function like the Arpeggio or "note" Delays and would force you to set it manualy after selecting the any Studio/Live/Single setting.
I really would like to confirm this or at least would appreciate if someone tells me how to memorize the Tempo in a Setting.

I have reseted my G8 for several times now since I've been playing with memory sticks, files and folders to check stability. Nothing wrong happened 'till now. I have not yet connected it to my PC or tested the Editor. Gonna check things from that side later.

Thanks V-CeeOh,

though bugs are never great, it's still good we get a comprehensive overview and can ask Roland to fix everything as soon as possible.

I will check your new ones as soon as I find time.

Meanwhile I can add a further one:
I find it impossible to change Beat (Song, Song Utility, Beat track)
Seems the sequencer can't do anything but 4/4 at the moment.

Song - Song Utility - Beat track - Cursor Right.
It works here.

You are right: I tried the mouse.

In fact I find it a bit confusing that some functions work with the mouse and others don't...

But thanks for the hint: one possible bug less!

Update on Controller recording

Post by V-CeeOh »

2. Total failure of sliders and knobs in any REC mode, thus no automation of values with these possible
Jim, I think I found it. It's weird but it goes this way:

-Select a Setting (we can use the Studio Setting #2 "R&B Studio Set" like you suggested in another thread
- Select part 4 for that synth lead sound. You'll get Fader 1 controlling Cutoff
- Press REC - you loose the controler
- Press PLAY (or F8) to start recording
- You get a small "Realtime Rec" window on the bottom right corner of the display
- Press F8 CLOSE and you get your controller back on Fader 1
- Move the fader while recording
- Press STOP and listen

Now, at this point I don't understand why we loose the controller when pressing REC but the truth is that we can effectively record any assigned controller this way as soon as we press F8 to CLOSE the small window.

In the end I believe we only get half a bug ;-)

@Jimknopf

I see what you mean: the mouse doesn't work with the horizontal scrollbar and it's arrows on screen.

I thought you also meant the keys that do work horizontally and jump to the start of the next phrase.

Recap: the horizonal scrollbar and arrows do NOT work with the mouse, they DO work with the directional keys.

Yes, and the directional keys are by far not as handy for moving through songs as a horizontal slider would be...

Hey, you seem to have a hand for solutions ;-)
Nice workaround!

Thought I would add this here since it is relevant to bugs listed, have not tried it yet.
Received this reply in response to my email to Roland US.

Bugs found:

>>>>>Total failure of sliders and knobs in any REC mode, thus no automation of values with these possible.

1. Press MENU, select System, and press ENTER.
2. Press F2 to select the Knob/Slider page.
3. Switch Slider Assign Select to "Fix" and Slider Assign Source to "Sys".
4. Assign Slider 1 to, for example, CC07 (Volume) and 2 to CC10 (Pan).

Automation is now available for MIDI parts. I'm not aware of a way to automate audio tracks, at least with this particular OS version.

>>>>>Horizontal slider and arrows in song mode window not working.

Confirmed and already on our list.

>>>>>Live mode hit F4 Control the options for F1 and F2 both say Group/Up when they should say Group/Up and Group/Down.

Confirmed and already on our list.

Confirmed: these system settings work.

*But*: in this mode sliders are fixed and not window/context dependant any more. That means in a Mixer window the sliders don't control volume anymore, but control the fixed settimgs here as well.

So a workaround working well, but with limited usability...
