Opening the bug list
Re: Opening the bug list
I mentioned this somewhere else, but thought it'd be best to stick it here also. When editing patches in pro mode, the mouse doesn't always do what it's supposed to. The wave selection screen is a good example. By default, when you enter this screen, all four wave numbers (all 4 tones) are highlighted. You can't select any of them individually with the mouse...you have to use the arrow buttons on the G. Once you select the wave number for the individual part, however, the mouse works fine.
Re: Opening the bug list
I confirm billw's discovery with the mouse issue in Patch Edit Pro. I would definitely consider this a bug. There is a workaround as Bill mentioned but you should be able to control ALL aspects of the screen with the mouse. So in some instances we have only partial functionality with the mouse??
Roland?? As mentioned there is also other screen menu's where the same thing occurs..

1. Press PAD MODE.
2. Press Pad 10 (MIDI Tx Sw).
3. Press Pad 1 to transmit on channel 1, Pad 2 to transmit on channel 2, and so forth.
MIDI output in Single Mode works just fine—with or without the internal part playing; you just have to enable the desired channels.

Leave it to our resident expert Audacity Works to poke holes in my theory.
Thanks Audacity Works!
>> I guess it helps if one reads the manual more thoroughly eh?
As I take it, it IS in the manual I presume, right?
On second thought don't answer that.
>> I gotta put my nose to the grindstone and read it cover to cover instead of just bits and pieces at a time.
And in a rather lackadaisical manner at that.
Thanks again!

Thanks again!
Sustain Pedal - Recording trouble
could anyone please help me confirm this?
just start recording a track and then use the sustain pedal
on and off save the trach and look at the editor mocroscope.
Please.....
Sustain Pedal - Recording trouble
When I record a track and press down the sustain pedal it captures the 64(hold) 127 ON state for the correct channel.
When I release the sustain pedal it captures the 64(hold) 0
for ALL 16 channels. see the editor microscope.
That does not seem like a normal function.
As tracks are added that use the sustain pedal it effects previously recorded tracks.
Even after a system reload and OS upgrade to 1.10.

Re: Opening the bug list
Hi appmus,
I recorded a couple of tracks using the Sustain pedal. I too noticed that in Microscope the sustain release included 'all' i.e. 1-16 channels. And also like you, when I press the sustain pedal down it captures 64(hold) 127 ON for channel "1" as it should.
I'm not sure if this affects anything though. Did you notice in Microscope that on the sustain release 64(hold) 0, the hold actually has a -"1" after it, for all 16 channels that are captured? In other words, (and I could be wrong of course
, even though the sustain release is capturing sustain release data for all 16 channels, because there is a -"1" after the word (hold), it appears that the sustain release is in fact only capturing sustain release for channel "1" in the recording and not for all 16 midi channels as believed.
Of course Roland and company knows the answer but it appears their desire is to see us sweat and toil to come up with the correct answers ourselves; even though it may not be listed in the Manual as such, or the fact that most of us on this forum are most likely not MIDI guru's, nor did any active member on this forum actually assist in the production of the Fantom G or has a degree in MIDI science and engineering.
Aside from that, what are you experiencing when you continue to add tracks with sustain in them appmus? The two tracks that I recorded with sustain in them seemed okay and I didn't notice anything "sonically" that would be considered out of the ordinary or unusual sounding. What happens in your multi-track recordings when sustain is used in more than one track?? Enlighten us if you would..

update Sustain Pedal - Recording trouble
Sustain Pedal - Recording trouble
let's see if I can put this down so it makes some sense.
Start Recording on track one
Press down sustain pedal
Play a c maj scale
starting at middle c
in quarter notes
for 4 measures
while keeping the sutain pedal down.
press stop
Play back track 1
Sustain is constant over entire track
Select a different patch from studio
return to song
select track two
start recording on track two
press down sustain pedal on beats one and three
release sustain pedal on beats 2 and 4
Play c maj scale
starting at c5
in quarter notes
for 4 measures
Press stop
press rewind
press play
during Play back the sustain on track 1 is trashed by the information in track 2.
This seems like a problem
