Price drop for Fantom-G sound collection

Post by Artemiy »

Hey everyone!

I'd like to let you know that Sinevibes has dropped their price for the Fantom-G sound collection, which now costs a super-low $19. The package gets you 512 patches, 115 multi-sampled instruments, 40 drum kits, as well as the Fantom-G Tweakbook.

More details here: http://www.sinevibes.com/fantom-g/

The Nylon expansion disappeared pretty quick. It was already gone from the Sinevibes site when I ordered the Giga Pack in April of 2011.

I also wondered what happened to it.

This is good news, much Fantom G sounds for the bucks.

But I have a question, all those 512 patches in megapack, are those really original patches or are they connected to waw files ?

(if all pathces require reference to MULTISAMPLES then it is not so useful without extra RAM memory)

The patches are a mixture of both. Some are based are the internal waveforms; some are based on samples.

After Buy/Download big pack, question arises...
Bass has 100 Patches, they are all "really" patches without samples as I understand.

1. I suppose Analogies has 17 "real" patches without conection to multisamples/waw files ?
Because Analogies has 25 multisampled instruments, 42 patches (42-25=17)

2. How can I determine what Patches are "real" and those that are connected to multisamples/waw files ?

(can not test the whole nice Sinevibes Big Pack, have no extra RAM at this moment, have to copy all the "real" patches without conection to multisamples/waw files to another project)

On your computer you can duplicate the Sinevibes project and then delete everything in the duplicate SMPL folder.

Or you could create a new ".Prj" folder on your computer and just copy the SND folder from Sinevibes into that new folder.

Either way, you would have a Project you could then load into your Fantom-G.

I copied all of "big pack" files project to USB and deleted all waw files.

Then inserted USB and loaded the project and tested all sounds.

It seems that only Atmospheres, Bass, and Synth has Patches that are 100 didigal and can be used without bigger RAM.

Patch in Analogies, Drums, Organics and Voices seems to rely much on connection to waw files.

Well I just purchased this, and I'm downloading it as we speak. I can't wait to try the new sounds on my Fantom G8!

EDIT: Except now I only just realised I needed more RAM to try it. Darn! Oh well, I'm sure these samples will go to use somehow.

EDIT2: I delete the .wav files so it would save more RAM, sure I only have half the sounds to play with, but at least it works, and even then, the ones that do work sound epic! Also on a side-note, can someone recommend me where to get RAM that works with the Fantom G8, the cheapest and possibly a recommended capacity? Currently I only have 32MB of RAM, which is a crazily low amount. I've only seen RAM sticks as low as 128MB. But either way, thanks!

512 MB is enough for the Sinevibes collection.

If you want to get the maximum, 1 GB…

In Europe, Thomann seems to be popular, but expensive.

On this side of the pond, I go mine from here.

I just baught 512MB RAM from Germany, it works fine, later I can test all sounds in collection.

RAM came with instructions for Roland Fantom memory insertion, nice.

512MB Gold RAM Memory ROLAND FANTOM
512MB RAM Ebay.de

(another thread shows some memory that not is compatible, so bee careful)

Fairly expensive for upgrades though. I mean PC RAM I can get for around £10 inc. postage in the UK for like a 4GB stick. I'm aware they're not compatible with the Fantom-G. But does no one really have a 1GB RAM stick at the cheapest cost and delivers to UK? £50+ is way too much in my opinion.

Older memory is currently more expensive and harder to find than new memory. That's just reality.

But memory is astonishingly cheaper than it was.

Around the year 2000, when PC133 was the standard for computers, modules sold for about $1 per MB. That would have been over $1000 for a 1GB stick, if they existed back then.
