Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
Thank you for the kind words, my friend!
Before I begin breaking PiaknowGuy's code, I must first warn all of you that the power of a baby wombat's intellect is formidable. Mere human beings may find it overwhelming.
With the assumption that all of you have taken the necessary precautions, I will now commence.
PiaknowGuy's clue to Roland's new product is:
OANLDR APOIN EHBCN
This code is clearly a simple anagram; the solution is self-evident:
BACON HELD IN APRON

My speculation
New juno (with super natural)
New Fantom (with super natural)
New gw9 (keyboard workstation)
New groove box

Finally ! The Fantom is going to become a real ghost... Roland you're damned !!!!
Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
ooh i really hope it's the new fantom. Think about it guys, Yamaha has relased the new flagship WS, Korg did the same with kronos, now it's roland time !!! Fantom G is a great synth but old.
Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
do you all not think the JP-80 is the new flagship?
The way I'm looking at it is this:
why would they put out another keyboard with supernatural, etc... when the JP80 has it? Why would someone in the market for a keyboard purchase the JP if Roland has a new "fantom"/or whatever they will call it, that has supernatural, plus all the other "workstation" type features that we are used to... Another keyboard seems like it would cannibalize sales for the JP...
what do you think?

Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
I wouldn't call the jp80 being the flagship because it's obviously a more specialized kind of keyboard, being good at one area and completely lacking on another. But I think that the next workstation kind of keyboard that Roland is going to release at some point will certainly have supernatural sounds. Thus saying I'm sure that we'll not see a new Fantom this year. Rolland will certainly try to get profit first from the JP80. Once the sales go weaker, a Fantom with supernatural sounds and all the benefits that comes with a workstation type of keyboard could jump into the game.
And let's not forget the variety of products that Roland makes. It could be actually everything but keyboards what they intend to announce.

Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
a friend of mine and I were talking... can't say where he got his info from though...
but we spoke quite a bit about a Fantom G rack... what do you all think about this...
I do think that would be pretty nice. They would probably release the Fantom G update that we've wanted, plus a Fantom G rack, with like 4-6 ARX card slots,... and you know what that means... more ARX cards. (with some of the supernatural technology that's been introduced in the JP (but in expansion format))....
huh?

Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
A Fantom G Rack doesn't make any sense and would IMHO be a total failure for a couple of reasons:
1.
People don't buy rack versions these days a lot because they were mostly used in studio. And for that purpose the majority will rather buy software.
2.
A rack would lose all the benefits from the keyboard version: the big screen, the controllers, the pads, the sequencer and some others. What would be left are the sounds which are nothing really special these days compared to some other keyboards and racks being on the market.
4-6 ARX card slots?
There won't be new arx cards. The existing ones are being sold out for 99$!

Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
I really dont' think it will be a rack version of the fantom G. Today each user works with vst sw, infact no producer does rack version of ws anymore. Inoltre JP-80 is not flagship just because it's a synth expecially for stage it hasn't a sequencer and sampler, features particulary needed by ws users.
Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
I dont think a rack would be on the cards either but interestingly i could see that the release of a rack would prompt a new software update..
after all if your going to release such a device you have to give something new with it to ignite the interest..
releasing a rack with that same as the current G would nt be that exciting.
i mean if you already have a g what would make you spend more again on what you already have?
now if the rack had somehow intergrated some supernatural engine that would probably make it interesting maybe...
but who knows.. its probably some other vapor ware
Im not expecting anything interesting from this, im sure it will be just another let down on the fantom G side.

Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
The main complains on the OS side of the Fantom G were about some sequencer functionality and outside of that the effect system, non existing multisample file format and the ridiculously limited file system overall. A FG rack probably wouldn't have a built in sequencer at all because the screen would be smaller and you'd lose advance in using it, and regarding the other shortcomings, well, the Jp80 shows that Roland is able to make an even more limited effect system and equally a more limited file system. So I doubt that they would cover those parts in an update. So, what would be left to put into the rack software wise?
Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
nothing... except maybe the sampler features that people want... plus they could update those things in the fantom g....
Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
How about a stripped down Jupiter-80 sound engine in a rack or SonicCell-sized module? No sampler, no sequencer, and maybe 128 voice polyphony for $1000-1500? It would have a minimal interface, so you would need a computer to tweak it by USB.
Re: a new count down is started, maybe is it the right time
In that case I'd rather go the software route directly. 1000 or better yet 1500$ is enough to buy some really good vst software with similar supernatural approach and you are far less limited.
Here's just one example that covers the brass part and it costs 250$:
