Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
I agree with the most here.
It is a shame the fantom g didn't get an upgrade. As i stated in another post: i bought a server this summer (at a fraction of the costs of a Fantom) and they bring out updates once or twice a month. I understand that producing an update for something like the Fantom is more difficult, but this is ridicilous. Clearly a pre-production fault from Roland that they made us pay for. There goes trust.
But no ARX, again, that is the greatest bummer. As Astralv said, we paid a lot of money for the ARX exp., but not to keep them empty. I am a positive guy, but my confidence in Roland is at point zero. Being a big time Roland user, i now turn and look at other manufacturers. Not that i want that, but they force me. It's a shame...
Drums and piano is just not gonna cut it. Brass was in my view a better usable card, but what now? And at Roland... well, they have our money and keep their mouths shut. Really bad companyship and marketeering.
I am happy we have people like Artemiy, Dan Krisher and Ed Diaz. They made things for us to keep the fantom rolling. Thanks guys!

I do sympathize with the majority of you (meaning I kinda know how you feel)....
but at the same time, I can see it in the future.... Roland releases an OS update for the Fantom G and a few new ARX cards.... and those same ones that bad mouth them today are ALL ON THEIR BANDWAGON...
just chill....
Dang...

Ok, scratch my earlier post about the motif. I checked out the kronos and I am sold. Considering I was originally a korg fanatic I think im going back to my roots.
. So expect my G8 to be for sale in a few months. Hahaha.

Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
Why would you not have more than 1 keyboard. Grown up working adults can afford a keyboard a year.
Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
Astra i hope youre not talking about me...
Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
@apex - you've been around a while; you really think they are going to update the G this late in the game? There are only a couple options, update the Fantom and milk the ARX or roll it all into their next release. I'm not sure they can do both.
As for those ones that bad mouth them, sometimes I think they are trolls, but I think most people here are seriously on board with Roland and want the best they can offer. One thing I haven't seen is people jumping bandwagons, but I hope you are right!!!

Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
I think the Fantom G got a really nice update, It's called Kronos and has all the features and updates I have been WHINING ABOUT for the last 2 years. Thank you Korg!
Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
Jessej- I complete agree that kronos seems to have all the features I was looking for too for a standalone workstation!!
Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
I have to be honest, I never thought Korg would create a workstation that I wanted. Kronos looks and sounds great!
But, last year I spent all of my music money on a new computer, soft synths and a new version of Samplitude.
Of course, the Kronos will not be out until May or June probably...if I make enough bonus money...

Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
jeesej, I have spent most of the day looking at info on the Kronos and reading all the Korg forums and it does appear to have everything I was looking for as well.
There's only 2 things I'm slightly concerned about at the moment and one is the sequencer (where people on the korg forums are moaning that this is just a direct port of the Oasys sequencer which they have been moaning about for ages and not even updated like the m3. They also ask why they can't have a fancy one like the G8. If the sequencer is worse than this one then that's me not buying.) and the second thing is I need to try that 88 keys weighted bed to see how it compares with the G8.
I'm guessing the keybed I can adjust to so let's hope they sort this sequencer out a bit more before release... Sounds familiar...lol
Anyone own an Oasys who can comment on the sequencer?
quote : The 88-key model of the KRONOS features the same RH3 real weighted hammer action keyboard used on Korg's upper-end piano models and on the SV-1
Anyone own a RH3 bed and a G8 to give me a comparison ?

Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
Nice price! I almost pre-ordered the 61 key version right then and there...
Re: Namm new products - nothing for the FG !
I think Roland will spring back with something updated or new in the future. I think they always do if correct. The problem as I see it is many will definitely part with their hard earned cash or credit and buy Yamaha or Korg now. With the economy and the expense of this hobby and/or profession, I wouldn't think Roland could stand to lose a lot of customers. They may with this round, but one of many future questions might be how many will come back when the next latest and greatest Roland Workstation gets released. I expected both Roland and Korg to answer to Yamaha's XF. It's only 13 days into 2011 and Korg has met the challenge with speed. Roland still has another 352 days to follow suit.....or to start making a plan? LOL
