Roland Fantom G & Cubase 5?

I'm a owner of a Roland Fantom G6 and im not sure how to set it up with my cubase 5 software.
I want to be able to use my Fantom G as a master keyboard for playing my virtual instruments in my Cubase 5 DAW and I want to use the internal fantom g sounds and sequence them in Cubase.How do I setup cubase and my Fantom to do both?

So i have load the fantom g vst in cubase 5.1and the submenu's are not working , is that a problem ????

Hi Dave,

Don't try to use the VST Editor, you'll not get it working. DAW integration is not one of the Fantom's strong points. I used the following workflow with satisfactory results:
for each Cubase song I create a corresponding - empty - song on the Fantom G. On the G I select the voice for the track and set effects and other parameters and I sequence in Cubase. When I save or load my Cubase project I also save or load the corresponding song on the G.

mmm my englisch is not so good ,i don't understand you entirely
so you say don''t use the vst but use record in cubase 5 .
Can i record on midi-channel , effects and other parameters from my fantom g in cubase ???
I don't use audio ,i want use midi - channels to record my patches and effects from my fantom 6 because i want edit them ,is that possible.

Maybe you can send me for cubase an project file to my e-mail adres (.cpr or .npr )

And what must i change on my fantom g6 to configurate him with cubase 5 ,setup ???
( menu and then wich parameters must i change )

You don't have a youtube video for me that i can beter understand cubase and fantom g together . . . . . . . ?

Hi Dave,

You don't need to use to the VST Editor in order to record in Cubase.
The problem with the disabled menus has been reported various times the last 2 years, also by me: http://forums.rolandclan.com/index.php?action=show_thre... There doesn't seem to be a way to contact Roland and I don't think Roland developers read this forum.
The USB MIDI driver does work and that is all you need (or if you have an audio interface you can connect the G to the computer using MIDI cables). When you add a MIDI track in Cubase, you should select the G as output and a channel indicating the track. If you're new to Cubase, you should read the "Device Setup" section in the manual. I don't have a Fantom G anymore (I traded it in for a Motif XF), but as I remember you need to set the PAD MODE to MIDI and select pad 1.
As long as you don't try to use the VST Editor it should be rather easy to set up.
