strange noise on my fantom
strange noise on my fantom
Hello guys!
I have a problem concerning my fantom. I have a strange noise on my keyboard!
When i'm playing on my keyboard or when i'm knocking on my fantom (everywhere), a strange noise, a sizzle, is appearing, located inside the fantom, especially near the keyboard.
Do you have an explanation for that? I don't think that i'm playing too hard on it and this noise appeared suddenly.
I'm afraid that my fantom need an intervention!! please help me...
thanks a lot
see you!

Re: strange noise on my fantom
My FG made a rattling noise, I tightened the right end piece with a screwdriver and all was well.
If the noise is coming out of the speakers, or you can hear it a set of headphones, it would suggest there is a bad electrical connection inside the unit, Call Roland Service or your local dealer.
Good luck

i checked all the screws, they're screwed. The noise is coming from inside the fantom.. I am now sure that it will need an intervention,
thank you anyway!

Re: strange noise on my fantom
Look at the "PLAY" sequencer buton, it's often the problem.
Re: strange noise on my fantom
My money is on the "Stop" button not the "Play" button.
It's been mentioned in a lot of threads and there is even a photo of a fix in one of them.

It's just an additional feature added by Roland. You get a bonus if you use them lots and lots and they completely fall apart. I'm waiting until I build up enough bonus credits and the whole thing blows up
Whatever you do don't say this is a design flaw, no-one at Roland would possibly make buttons that rattle unless they intended them to, so live with it.

Sizzle? . . . I like bacon . . . But seriously . . . Does it sound like a mechanical vibration or an electrical short?
BTW. I've heard far worse noises come out of some Fantom Gs!

Re: strange noise on my fantom
i'm sure it is a mechanical noise coming from inside the fantom g. it seems to be coming from the keyboard itself, as a spring....

CAUTION: Make sure the power plug is disconnected from the wall, when you do the following.

Why don't you remove the shell and see if you can spot the mechanical vibration visually. Also, feel around for loose components. If all seems well, then I'd think next that there is an electrical fault in the system.

Re: strange noise on my fantom
My rattle problem with the play / stop button has been solved by using blu-tack. I wedge it up on the buttons to stop them rattling - works a treat - plus saves opening the beast up. Strange I know - but the rattle was driving me potty

Re: strange noise on my fantom
I have the same problem, especially at the left side of the keyboard. Loosening (not tightening) a screw helped somewhat (but the sounds is still there). I seem to remember reading another post about this issue. I think it's an engineering oversight.
Re: strange noise on my fantom
hahahahaha flumpster im waiting for my record button to go the same way as the play and stop 8) since it is used about 90 percent less it might last another couple of year yet:P
