Anyone else have this problem????

Post by thekeymaster »

Hi there folks.

Ok Ive been working on my G for the last month making some covers tracks in the sequencer. All is going along fine....Ive programmed about 6 tracks .I save as I go along usually every 10 to 15 mins or so cause you never know if something was to happen, power cut, cable gets pulled etc etc.Its all to a USB drive....which has been fine, no problems with it at all.

Anyway Ive used about 110 phrases and some samples as well. I start on song number 7 and begin to record a phrase in.I stop recording and the sequnecer asks me to assign phrase to track....I say OK and it puts it into the sequence....

Now then my problem is it puts it at Phrase 44.......... now Im sitting here thinking, woah hold on a sec there should already be a phrase at 44 for another song......im pretty thorough when it comes to making sure there are no no free phrases in my phrase list. All phrases should be utilised up to about 110.So i stop recording and decide to reload my project in and start again on Song 7.When I do this sure enough Phrase 44 comes up with a drum track that I used in song 3....I knew I wasn't going mental....but i scroll down a bit further and at about 55 there is an INIT PHRASE where another phrase should be so now I'm really confused.

So I try again and load the project in to see if its just a glitch........I go back to my phrase list, start to scroll down and now sure enough Phrase 55 is back to what it should be but now I have an INIT PHRASE in another slot at 41.??????????? WTF!!!!! So now I turn the Fantom off, leave it for a few minutes and turn her back on.My project loads in at start up from the drive as normal.....go back to my phrase list, start scrolling cause Im a bit concerned now and all seems well....until phrase 82.....!!!! INIT PHRASE........

Im totally baffled. As anobody else experienced a rogue INIT PHRASE just popping up in your list. It's annoying because there should be information there not a blank phrase. Ive been playing my Tracks back for the last 3 weeks and they have been fine, its only today I have noticed this. Very odd........any ideas anyone.??????

Thanks

Ok Ive just loaded the project back in again and now all Phrases are where they should be and no rogue INIT PHRASE to be seen but even so its a little worrying....... Im working on a set of material and I cant afford to have a Phrase to just disappear like that.
The first time it happened was a drum track phrase!!! Scary if you load the song in and there is no drums......

Im using a large capacity USB drive....8GB ... anyone think that may be too big. It works fine.... formatted no problem and I haven't had any problems with it....what da think guys? The size shouldn't really affect it that much should it?

Really odd goings on.......woooooooo.

An 8 GB USB drive is probably not the problem. If you've determined that your USB drive is compatible and your USB drive works correctly (as you said) then the problem probably lies within the Fantom G OS software most likely. But I should mention, you should make sure your USB drive is properly "seated" into the Fantom G USB slot. If it is not securely attached it could theoretically cause things to act up possibly.

what do you mean by "seated" properly. I know it means connected., but my USB always seems wiggly... it does bother me. no problems, but it's just to principle...

I assume from the lack of reply's that this is not a big problem.......ive just booted my fantom up this morning and this time I have 2 rogue INIT PHRASE in my list. This is not good..... I've just done another re load and Im going to check it as I type........

...... and now it seems fine.......I have a problem with this though.I'm going to be working on about 40 tracks ,thats going to be a lot of phrases by the time I'm done. Its not going to be feasible for me to keep checking the phrase list every-time I load this project in. This has to be some sort of bug when loading in projects or something.Don't know if anyone from Roland actually scans these forums, maybe Dan or someone as ever encountered a problem like this.

Keysme,I didn't think the drive would be a problem to be honest. It's all very frustrating. I shall keep my eye on it over the next few days and see if it keeps happening when I boot up.

I know im keeping my own thread going but I just thought I would share some more observations...

last night I went to save my project, went through the procedure and then decided to reload it in....yet again rogue phrases were in my list, very very strange.....now one thing I have done since this started happening was using the USB audio input from my Powerbook. Its been plugged in since Friday so this morning I decided to unplug it and boot up the fantom without it connected. All has loaded in ok today but that may be coincidence.....anyone think the USB audio could be a factor?

Im just throwing things about, sort of like an elimination process.I didn't have any problems before this week.
