This solution is for the Fantom X and MAY apply to the G.

Go to your drivers folder and locate the RDIF1045.INI file and edit it with notepad. Locate the string named [Roland.NTamd64.6.1]. 6.1 is the internal version of Windows 7. You'll se a value of "not supported" or something like that.

Now locate the string named [Roland.NTamd64.6.0] and copy it's value below to it to he 6.1 string. The strings should look something like this:

[Roland.NTamd64.6.0]
%RDID0045DeviceDesc%=RDID0045Install, USB\VID_0582&PID_006D ; FANTOM-X

[Roland.NTamd64.6.1]
%RDID0045DeviceDesc%=RDID0045Install, USB\VID_0582&PID_006D ; FANTOM-X

What we are doing is placing the hardware id from the vista string to the Win 7 id. Close and save the file and try to install again.

Hi Jgore,
Sorry to be a little off topic, but I would really love to have a solution like that for the V-Synth XT, as with Windows 7-64, XT is DEAD regarding being recognized !!! as until now, there are no 64 bit OS drivers released from Roland.

This woked fantastically for my Fantom X in conjunction with the compatability mode.

Jgore,
Using your suggestion, I've also managed to get my Fantom Xa "seen" by Windows 7 -64 Bits.
Well done
Thanks

Still not working for the "G". I have no update from Roland yet, but, for those interested, M-audio has released its Windows 7 drivers pertaining to SOME of their audio/midi interfaces. I think Cakewalk has also introduced an interface as well.

I also got it working for my X6 and XR using the Compatability settings and Jgore's .INI file edit.

Double thanks.

Win 7 drivers are on the Roland site for the X.

By the way, this gives me an excuse to use the X again as a controller for my new Win 7 DAW.
