In retrospect, I'm glad they didn't ... JP-8 is gorgeous in every way, and it took a real leap of faith to get one (including a 10-hour drive each way and lots of $$$)
What couldn't be duplicated or even approximated with Fan-G/ARX is the control surface that is such an essential part of the EXPERIENCE ...
Most importantly, the sound is unbelievable ... smooth, silky, fat, powerful ... and ALIVE ... (moreso than even V-Synth -- which I place above Fantoms for pure sonic goodness) and it's quite nice but not so good in transition (i.e. adjusting params) ... where the JP-8s silky smoothness stays intact and doesn't explode into a digital mosaic, which can be an intersting effect but not as a mainstay ... ) So easy on the ears ... i.e. no "digital fatigue" ...
BTW ... Still-loved and used-daily Fan-X is visible at bottom of frame ...
