You're absolutely right Cyclops. Your solution is a good one as well.

A bit off topic but how do you use the 88 connected to the G6? Do you have independent zones on your 88 from your G6? So for example is this possible in you setup?

G6: C-1 - C3: Bass from Fantom, C#3 - G9: Lead from Fantom
88: C-1 - G9: Piano from Fantom, C-1 - G9: Pad from Fantom

And if so how did you manage this?

Regard,
Laurenz

lazeeboy: I don't actually use this solution. I said that this is possible and a bit more preferable as an option if I ever were to use a 88-note keyboard. For me, the G6 is more than enough. ;-)

But theoretically I could send data to a channel from my 88-note keyboard to the G6, probably assigned a piano sound always, maybe part 8, or maybe sometimes layered with a pad or something else in another part. All other parts would be be played by the G6's keys.

Ahh oke, because I thought that using this option one isn't able to create zones on the G to be played by an external device; the entire range is applied even if in the G you specified otherwise.

I do not know this for certain though and this is totally off topic so I shall refrain from persuing this here.

GUYS !
This is excactly what I was afraid of, just because of wide array of knowledge in this forum you guys would have vaild points in either regards.

I don't play in a band or compose any music. I simply like to play music. Depending on the night , it may be a little string action or some dance music. The $500 difference in price isn't the end of the world, my only true issue , would I be sorry that I didn't get an 88 key over a 76 come a years time.

I saw some guy on you tube play a cold play song on a G8 and he was awesome, but then again I watched a young man play a beautiful piano drift on a G6........what a hard choice.........

I feel a little jealous of the people who have bought what they wanted without any sorry feelings...........

I think that if you don't play with a band the best choice is the G8, considering that you're a piano player (just like me, and I love the keybed, is the closest one to the feeling of a real piano, tested some pianos from yamaha and the keys were too hard for me)... I say this because my only regret with the G8 is the weight, that keep me away from bands.
Sorry for bad english!

IgorCristo - don't put your english down , you made a lot of sense.

The true factor of never leaving the house and the abilty to be able to play trance or piano styles on a G8 , kinda seals the deal for me .

z06lm- nice choice. you'll be happy with your G8.

(im guessing you're a no-nonsense car guy (Z06 LeMans... definitely get the G8).
