No it isn´t possible.

A live set can´t store:
- tempo
- active part, which have to be controlled.

Therefore You have to change the Tempo and the active-Part which needs to be controlled (by D-Beam or S1and S2)
MANUALLY and EVERYTIME You select the sound.

This is very disturbing when playing live.

But there is a little trick:
Store a song with the tempo for a song and save it in the favorite Mode next to live set. So it is possible to select the tempo with ony one additional click.

This problem needs to be fixed very soon.

too bad. I kinda hoped that I overlooked something.
it's more than difficult to change tempo a couple of time during one 'track' whilst playing live (and not using the 'song' mode)

It's a feature that many users want. I'm afraid that it's not certain whether Roland will implement it or not. And we never ever have any info about future updates.

You can create a new song, change tempo etc in live mode and and then store as song - than call back from favorites - this is only a workaraund - but works ak.

that's true, but unfortunately it cuts the sound - you can't change tempo that way without affecting the 'sound flow' of patches.

The trick with the Song-Mode works but has some more disadvantages.

=> You can´t copy the live-mode-sounds in a studio set. Therefore you have to recreate the whole live-set in a song.

=> It also doesn´t solve the problem with the active-part. Therefore You have to select it manually again and again.

The Fantom G is a DO IT AGAIN Keyboard. ;-)

This has been bugging me for awhile.
Lots of attention needs to be given to the neglected live mode, IMO.

I don`t understand this point. I just created a new song, switched to live mode, did my setups incl tempo and stored as song (from live mode) didn`t have to touch studio mode or create any further patches. If you use "set song" at favorites it just calls back your live set plus your controller settings. As a song loads faster than a second its no difference to the switching of live sets.

Hi Wilhelm,

I will try this when I am at home. Does the Song-Mode also solve the issue, that you have to activate parts manually?

I have the ARX03. And when I use it in live-mode I have go down EACH TIME to part 9. The controllers (S1, S2 and D-Beam) doesnt work when I don´t do this. Can I solve this problem with Song-Mode? That would be fine!

It might work but that way you aren't in Live mode anymore...

I hope Roland will fix this and make it possible to assign controllers to a certain part in Live mode.

hopefully, it's just gonna be a 'software' update. :) I don't want to wait for another flagship workstation to get that option.

How come that its not possible to store the tempos?

This makes the (already really crappy) arpeggiator totally useless...

How can you make a synth like this, and miss out features like this???

I've had my G7 for half a year now. I'm being used as a sideman in different projects. Since I got it i have been trying to use it in 4 different projects. Everytime I have ended up not using it because of missing features. Basic features like arp-editor, being able to save the tempo, being able to transpose external parts (without using the software editor).

This synth is my greatest dissappointment ever. I cannot believe how shitty it is.

I will NOT recommend it to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can agree that the Fantom-G has a number of missing features and bugs. We've discussed such issues in the past quite extensively.

But there is a question for you: if the Fantom-G is so "shitty" as you say, how come you still have it? Since it doesn't give you what you want, and since you wait nothing from it, how come you didn't give it away?

I think that such extreme expressions don't fit for an instrument like this. Most issues discussed many times here are software-oriented, so they could be solved quite easily. That's something I could wait.

I'm not going to "give away" an instrument with this price tag. I'm going to sell it!

My problem is that with the amount og gigging I do, it's hard to find time to get into new gear. I got the "G" for the christmas holiday where I had time to check it out and make setups for two different tours. I ended up using an old korg triton (almost 10 years old) instead. It has two arps (with editor), it can transpose its external zones, and I can save my tempos along with programs and combis and it has a real filesystem. Besides that I needed to return it to Roland to get the software update because of some bug....

I have a Roland A90, jv2080, Juno 60, Jupiter6, Korg Triton, 01/w, M1, CX3, MS20, Mono/poly, Yamaha Motif ES8, Moog Voyager, Nordlead3, Receptor Komplete, Kurzweil K2000 and some more.

I have never ever tried a more incomplete instrument than the G7. Its not just a number of missing features, it is (in my humble opinion) very central features. Its like buying a sequencer without quantize, or a moog without a filter or a cheeseburger without cheese.

I simply don't get it.
