FG Connects News

Post by Dan Krisher »

Hi all. We had a request from our US retailers to do some new Fantom-G demo songs and add them to the current FG Connects project. So we did four new demos songs and placed them in the current FG connects project. In the process, we added some extra patterns as well. Since this isn't technically a new FG Connects, we replaced the previous FG download on RUS with this newer version. (The older one was 9MB, this one is 27MB.)

Download the newer version here:

The new demo songs are pretty cool. They all incorporate audio and some have a great deal of automation that we did in the FG. The first and third tunes incorporate some cool timestretch stuff. So if you are new to the Fantom, they are a cool way to see the Fantom-G's potential. Also, there are new patterns, phrases and now audio samples to have fun with.

We are still on track with our June 1 release date of installment two in the series.

Hope this clarifies things.

This is wonderful! The songs are very imaginitive and very well done indeed! Thank you Scott Tibbs and Huston Singletary! :) Thanks also to each and every person at Roland who contributed to this new effort. You guys ROCK!! :)

This is very exciting everyone. It's enough to make a grown person cry - for sheer joy! :D And that's just after listening to the songs! :) I haven't even gotten into the rest of the goodies yet.

Still missing the "definitive" way of merging this material with your own favourite bits of your own project.
Is the VASE software the only way??

You can try to copy everything exepct LIVE and PATCH from FGConnects Project's fangsnd.svd to yours fangsnd.svd.With FantomG librarian.Save that fangsnd in FGConnects Project and also copy yours SMPL folder in FGConnects Project. Then load it in FG.

This is not the way to do this. The FG connects project contains user samples used in the demo songs. So if anyone tries to merge their sample-based project with the FG connects project, the only thing they'll achieve is a totall mess. With Yase the samples and multisamples can be remapped to any positions we want, but even then we'll have to edit our multisample-based user patches, so that they'll point to the right multisamples. Using Yase is the only way to merge sample-based projects.

Dan,

Impressive!

There is MUCH to be learned just from peeking under the hood on these tracks to see what was done!

Who is the vocalist? She is really good. Were the vocals recorded into the G directly, or samples brought over? It is crystal clear. If done directly, what mic was used? Just curious.

Can't thank you guys enough for all this!
