USB/midi Sync Problem => Dan, please help me
Hi there,
Whenever I use the G8 with Nuendo through the USB-midi connection I get sync problems. When I record a segment in Nuendo and listen to it afterwards, the problem is that the notes are coming too early.. I'm gessing this has to do with the FG driver. Anyone else having these problems and if yes, did you solved them and how did you do it?
Thanks,
Jeroen

I have the same kind of problem in Logic, all audio I record from the Fantom G to Logic is always a few ms late. I have yet to find an answer to the problem other than Logic does not have this "ping" feature that has existed in Cubase for years... That is Logic compensates for "sound card" buffer latency (from the moment they implemented latency compensation). So if you change buffer, latency compensation of this buffer stays always correct, also for I/O plugin.
The only thing you need to compensate for yourself is convertor & soundcard DSP routing (for example Fantom G) internal latency.
This is in samples, so it will differ depending on your samplerate and how many effects/mastering you run in Fantom G, I think. I am not sure.
What kind of latency compensation does Nuendo offer for external gear?

Well it's not the audio I have problems with, it's the midi.
I record some notes right ON the click in Nuendo.
Afterwards I play them back and the midi is just BEFORE the click.
Very strange...

I have no answer to that one Jeroen, maybe Nuendo has clairvoyance set to Nostradamus levels and it sees the future while you are recording?

Re: USB/midi Sync Problem => Dan, please help me
yeah, that's it. Thanks!!
haha
No, I guess that it has to do with the driver, but there's no updat on the driver. Hope Dan has an answer for me.

Hi all.
I'll admit I'm not familiar with Nuendo. (Though I like the editing in the program. Very nice.) My first question would be is there a way to adjust the MIDI buffer in the program? Then I would be looking at how the system's are sync'd together. We usually suggest the computer by the Master and the "G" the Slave. And, are you syncing via MTC or MIDI clock?
Sorry, I'm not much more informed about Nuendo. There is a Neundo forum: http://forum.nuendo.com/phpbb2/. That might be an avenue to explore.

Thanks Dan.
I'm at work right now so I have to try tonight.
Point is, I'm using the M-audio Keystation49 too. Also hooked up by usb and without any problems, so I doubt it has to do with the nuendo-settings.
I'll try to look into the Master/Slave settings and the clock settings.
I'll let you know.
Thanks again,
Jeroen

Here is a link.
Card offers negative latency settings.
My problem is MIDI Latency on Nuendo 3,Cubase SX3.....I am working with M-Audio,Creative X-Fi.Fantom G is connected via USB.Sometimes works fine!Try to go to the DEVICE SETTINGS and turn of all MIDI devices that you dont use (in windows MIDI screen). Then click RESET button and then Apply. Also try to turn off CUBASE.Than turn it on.I think that this is a STEINBERG problem.I have 3 different sound cards and 2 PC's.And always have a problem with MIDI latency.
Try also this:
If timing problems with the recorded MIDI events occur with your operating system, try activating the "Use System Timestamp" option.
