Thanks Dan! I put my money where my mouth is and forked over the money for the OEMPCworld.com 1GB RAM stick. I would have liked for it to have been CL2 but oh well. The price was within the ballbark of the memoryx RAM and I appreciate the effort Roland and OEMPCworld worked out to keep the price within reason. I also didn't realize OEMPCworld is located in California. Hopefully that will mean I will get it that much quicker. :)

Now... what to do with that CL2 512MB Kingston PC133 RAM I bought a while back and am currently using in my G7?!?! I'll probably continue to use it until necessity requires me to use the 1GB stick. ;) The 1GB stick will sure come in handy once the need necessitates it though, eh? :) Kudos! to Roland U.S. for helping us Fantom G owners out and for working with OEMPCworld to make it happen within a reasonable time frame Dan.

Maybe I missed something? What are we celebrating, exactly? Must be my 'newbie' status. At least two of us, maybe more, confirmed at least a month ago that the 1 Gb memory module from memoryx.com worked perfectly well with the Fantom G. Furthermore, it's @ $18.00 cheaper than the one being pushed by Roland. Am I missing something? Please enlighten me as to why we should be lauding Roland for finding overpriced ram to replace some previously overpriced ram (512) which, due to it's dated technology, is essentially useless for use in any other application. Sure sounds like self-flagellation to me.

cgiles....that's not a nice way to put it ya know...

Roland is partnering with a company that guarantees it will work with the G. Simple.

It is our choice to try other sources, but it is not a big negative thing here.

What's $18 when there is a garantee it will work? When you want to save the $18 and go for the one at Memoryx its ok, but what if it doesn't work in your G? No garantee I think. If you can return it you still have the hassle and retuning will cost you some to. Ofcourse you are free to choose....

Sorry, disregard my previous post. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm not a brand loyalist, far from it. I tend to applaud companies that do timely bug-fixes, free library updates, offer AFFORDABLE expansion cards, etc. My bad.

So, is this final? Can we start ordering memory modules from OEMpcworld? Do they provide worldwide delivery? I'm considering it, although I don't still need 1GB of RAM yet.

Yes, it is final and they are ready to ship. I just got an email yesterday telling me my RAM had shipped. I should be getting it the first part of this week hopefully >> unless it gets bogged down in the snail mail process, being the holidays and all; with the postal service being overwhelmed this time of year as we know.. ;)

On second thought, I'll go ahead and install the GIG stick when it gets here into my G7, just to be sure they got it right and see if it really works fine and is fully compatible. If everything goes as planned and it works I'll be sure to let everyone know of that fact. I'll probably just leave it in too. :) I just wish it were CAS Latency 2 instead of CL3. :| But at least we can NOW use 1GB RAM in our Fantom G's if need be thanks to OS 1.20. :)

Well.. talk about fast! :) My RAM got here today and I went ahead and installed it. Installation was a breeze and upon boot up I went into Menu/System/F4(Info)/Memory Info and VOILA!! :) It showed up as 1024MB and works flawlessly. :)

Kudos again to Roland for giving us the ability to expand our Fantom G Sample RAM to 1GB under OS 1.20, and kudos also to OEMPCworld.com for providing an excellent, fully compatible (100% guaranteed) 1GB PC133 Random Access Memory stick for us Fantom G owners. :) And at a reasonable price I might add. :)

Hi,

I think I'm going to hang on to my 512MB CL2 Kingston RAM G8owner14. I want to have a spare one on hand just in case I need it.

Since you have an eBay account you might want to check this out: It's a listing of 512MB PC133 CL2 RAM for a good price: New 512MB PC133 CL2 RAM on eBay

Sorry.. but I hope this will at least be a consolation for you in your quest for RAM. :)

PS: You might want to email the seller to make sure the height of the RAM is within the height limit according to the Fantom G manual's required height specification. All the other specifications of the RAM look to be compatible with the Fantom G. The RAM height was not listed though that I could see.
