Hey guys, I'm kind if a newb when it comes to mastering (I understand the concepts but don't have much hands-on experience), I play in a pretty loud band and was wondering if maybe using the mastering effects when I'm at rehearsal and playing live will help to even out my patches. I find certain patches cut through really well but others, like some of the organ sounds, kind of disappear and need a lot of cranking up of the volume knob to come up to the level of some of the other patches.
To a certain degree some of this is because I'm still recreating all of my old Fantom-S performances on the G and haven't quite fine-tuned the part levels in Live mode yet, but do you guys use the mastering effects when playing live?

Re: Mastering effects and playing live
I play live exclusively, and globally enable Mastering at all times so the right sw2 button is enabled with it from boot-up.
Mastering brings all the frequencies up to a more normalized level, sounds fatter, and bites through the mix better. The FOH guy can tweak the eq from there if needed. I thought the FanG sounded a bit thin until I enabled the mastering switch, and I never went back.

Same on the X. I have the mastering enabled all the time!!!
Heaps thinner sound without it.
