Is it possible for Roland to say something without saying it
Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
Yeah, but getting a baseball cap- or getting the beef on the next greatest update/product from Roland- are 2 different things. I would rather get nothing and sign an NDA so I can be in on the bleeding edge from Roland.

Hello everyone!
I'm new here at the forum and I got my G7 only less than two weeks ago. I hav a few questions about the forum. There seems to be very little information on tips and good ideas from different users. I haven't read everything but I started at the top to get the latest stuff. Why is so many people crying for info from Roland all the time? You want info about the next update. Why? Do you open your Christmas gifts in november too? Aren't you happy with the G? Did I miss something when I bought it? It seems strange to me. So far I love the machine, maybe too many acoustic pianos, but it sounds terrific.

I love most of the sounds too...
You obviously never owned the Fantom X.
Some of us wanting to upgrade from the Fantom X have not been able to sell our Fantom X yet because of missing features on the G that were on the X...several of those things are very basic.

Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
OK. Are these features so basic that you didn't check before you bought it?
No, I didn't have the X. I had a Motif, first version. Can you name any of those basic features so that I know what I should miss?

Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
The Fantom G has a very extensive featureset. Checking *everything* before buying it would have meant spending weeks at the local musicstore.
When working several hours on a daily basis for months on the Fantom G, there are many things that will get to you.. I'm sure Roland will fix them at some point, but currently some of us are really annoyed, because we have waited over four months for some small fixes that are now *long overdue*. Those small fixes not fixed means hours of unnessesary work for the user and there is no excuse whatsoever why Roland Japan has not delivered the updates.
I must say I am not a happy customer, although I think the Fantom G is wonderful. The Product is nice, the manufacturers update policy is not.
Have a look at the future OS wishlist thread for some things missing...

One example...Cannot Export Midi files even though the manual says you can...not able to check this at the store..
Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
Hum...
This is a proof that all this whining and lack of patience on the forum is leading us to an undesired road...
Thank god Dan is posting some videos with CREATIVE stuff... it is really a breath of fresh air.
C-Sharp you can start here.
I guess that there won't be peace before an (so they say) overdue update is released by Roland.

LL

Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
Thanks for links to threads and so on. I haven't had the synth long enough to miss anything, apart from really good brass sounds. I think every synth misses something. I still think that it is "unfair" to say that an update is long overdue. There are no rules for that. Of course, when you really long for something you can't wait! But I don't think that Roland will hurry things up because you say so. THe company I work for makes medical equipment and we also have updates, but we make sure that everything is right before we release it. Testing takes time and you can't afford bugs, at least not when it comes to human lives!
I think you should relax and enjoy the Fantom G and start making good music with it. After all, it's not useless no matter what things you miss.

Do you see the irony here?

Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
No, I'm afraid I don't. Ask twenty people in here what they consider is the most important thing missing on this synth, and you will most probably get at least ten different answers. We have different definitions of the word "right". In the case of our company, "right" means that nothing must malfunction since we deal with medical care. The Fantom G works fine even if it lacks certain things to some people. This synth was obviously "right" enough to everyone who bought it. I can understand that you miss things, but there is no need for Roland to rush things. I don't think they are keeping you waiting just to annoy you on purpose.
Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
I think it's best to have this conversation again in a month when you find out all the things that are broke and missing for yourself.

Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
I'm beginning to understand why there are TEN pages of the "Complaints" thread...
Don't misunderstand me. If anyone from Roland Japan (who seems to be the only ones who decide, according to Mr Krisher) would read the Wishlist (for example), it would take them far more than four months to include everybody's wishes. Am I the only one in here who see that this will never happen? To include all that would blow the machine up!
Yes, I will probably notice some things that I miss in a couple of weeks, but the sound quality and ease of use is what got me buying it in the first place and nothing has changed in that department.

You tried using the scrollbars to scroll along your song horizontally yet?
Re: Is it possible for Roland to say something without sayin
Nope, nothing I've recorded so far has lasted more than 10 seconds...
I'm still enjoying every moment in single mode and have only tried Studio mode a couple of times. I don't miss anything yet, but hey, give me some time! lol
