GX sound expansions-require memory expansion?

Post by Astral »

I was not paying attention and already ordered GX sound expansions, and after I downloaded Zip file, I thought- do I need expansion memory to be installed? The collection contains samples, that means- I do need that memory- what is it- 512MB 168pin SDRAM DIMM 64Mx64 non ECC ?

Astral, there are no requirements listed on the site - and it's true ;-) The whole GX pack will load into the factory-shipped RAM (samples take around 28 MB). However, if you'll want to use audio tracks in future, you *will* need to expand your RAM anyway.

Thanks for your purchase, by the way, and I hope you enjoy the sounds!

Never mind and thanks- sounds got loaded with out memory expansion- not that its a good thing- I am not sure if its good or not. After listening it about once... Arteliy did great gob with it. Roland itself sounds sux. If I had to hear another "glass-like" sound, I would send it back- oh, wait- I can't send it back- its too late. So I have to like it don't matter what. :) Ok- its not too bad. Kinda like nothing I never heard before, but thats me. I am confused- where are the Drums? I expected 20 drum sets... I heard one called "bass drum"- thats something from outside of commoin idea of bass drum. And then there Conga, Space Conga- am I not in a right folder? Thanks.

Astral, the drums are in the "sample set" sound type, not in "patch".

Yeah- about that- don't let me start it- its 3 am for the God's sake- lol. I heard something when pressing PADS- why is it so low? I have no idea how to use those pads- it gives no to nothing sounds- instruction, please? And if you like to write little essay on how to use Pads- feel free- it will be useful. Thanks, Artemiy!

Thanks, Artemiy. I was working with sounds last night... Um- so if I have locals OFF, that means the pad sounds OFF also. That is inconvenience. Don't think there would be a way to make keyboard go trough DAW and still have PADs transmit somehwre- it all confusing. Even with "local on"- what midi channel the PADs are on? Is there a way to change it? If I set RX channel for keyboard to ch.1, what channel PADs on and how it set up?

Astral, I haven't yet worked with the G as a MIDI controller, so I can't be of much help. Please feel free to start a new topic on this, I am sure others will jump in!
