RD-700NX preview in German Keyboards magazine

Post by keyfix2000 »

The German Keyboards magazine has published a preview of the new RD-700NX.
The facts are:
V-Piano-like keybed action
3 different SuperNatural Grand Pianos: CONCERT, STUDIO, BRILLIANT
same SN-Epianos as RD-700GX :-(
same virtual tone wheel organs
300 preset and 100 user Live Sets (=setups), no tone section anymore ?
900 ROM-samples instead of 532 Tones
simple USB audio recording
Sound Focus function depends on sound playing: compressor, enhancer, booster
no more Audio Key function
no more Arpeggio
no more SRX-expansion boards

How extensive is this "preview"? Did they actually touch one, or are they just regurgitating Roland press releases?

It's definitely more than a press release.
The editor did play a preproduction model.
A real test with sound examples included is pronounced for the next edition.

Here is a blurb from gearwire (http://www.gearwire.com/roland-rd-700nx.html):

"The RD-700NX offers a number of professional features, including Roland’s SuperNatural Piano sound engine, a newly developed E. Piano based on SuperNatural technology, the PHA III Ivory Feel keyboard with Escapement, a new Sound Focus feature, and a large high-resolution LCD screen."

A "newly developed E. Piano"?

In this preview article the author says:

"Already known from the RD-700GX are ten SN-E-piano-sounds that are found again in the successor."

What ever that means.
