Roland Sh 201 vst Probem please help sh 201 owners

hey all please help me ,
Ok now since I got my Roland sh 201 and im using it as audio never as Vst which make me sad Why the hell cant I use the options of my synth
ok here is my problem defined:

1-I have used almost every DAW to date "only not logic" to use the editor but no luck
2-I dont get any sounds out of it, for example cuabse What i use now shows midi data flowing into the sh 201 and sh 201 vst keps blinking red but no audio nothing
3- if i change the s 201vs t with any other vst i hear sound
4- I connected the sh 201 via usb not midi and my direct monitoring option in cubase is turned off 'don't know why"
5- while writing this I discovered a new fail ic ant control the surface of the sh 201 anymore through the hardware the nobs are not turning either left or right although the channel keeps blinking that midi data is transmitted and when i press sync everything fine

Im into this shit for ages what is wrong
Could it be that the uper and lower layers are not armed to the channel i U se and how to arm them?

I don't know if this is of any help since I didn't cleary understood what exact connections and DAW you're using but...
It's a common error with the SH-201 VST(and, now, also with the new SonicCell VST) to confuse the Editor VST with a common VST sinthesizer. The SH-201 VST is an EDITOR so it does not produces sound by itself. It is only used to control the actual SH-201. So you have to KEEP the SH-201 audio connections.

I'm connecting it through usb.I tried midi cables but I dont think that is the problem and what do you mean with doesn't produce sound?
For example if i want to make a melody but I don't want to repeat it 100 times till it good since im not good at audio recording.Isnt that the reason of midi notes.
I thought this synth + vst editor works like this or what now?
Excuse me im not a pro yet so sometimes there might be some sort of info i cant tell u since I don't know my self

When I talk about audio I'm saying that you have to phisicaly connect the SH-201 outputs to an amplifier or use headphones. When you use other VST sinthesizers, the sound is outputed by the PC motherboard audio out since the "program" itself produces sound. It is not the case of the SH-201 Editor. This VST is only to CONTROL the SH-201 parameters and does not produces sound by itself. The sound comes from the SH-201 output - not the PC

So, this may seem dumb but my first question would be:
Are you listening the SH-201 when NOT conected to the PC?

I will tell you what I thought the Sh 201 can do and you tell me this is right or wrong

I thought that I could record a melody better with midi rather than audio since it can be edited and i wanted at the same time this midi clip to be played with the Sh 201 synth hardware sound through the Editor in the midi channel of my Daw

Yes, you can record MIDI BUT you don't NEED to use the Editor for that. You use the Editor only if you want to control the SH from within the DAW.
So, first things first:
- Open the Editor first (do not open the SX3)
- Goto Setup - Setup MIDI Devices - and check the if you got the SH at the Input and Output.
- If so, check if you can edit sounds in the Editor.
- Close the Editor and Open Cubase. If you have already installed the driver, the SH-201 must appear as a MIDI device at the SX3 (I can't tell you how to do that since I don't use Cubase). If this is the case you can use the SH as a MIDI controller/sound source - no need to use the Editor BUT you have to check wich MIDI channel you're using. Remember that Receive and Send MIDI channels MUST match - You have to Send in channel 1 if the SH is receiving in channel 1, for example.
- Now , Open the Editor in the a MIDI track with the same channel.

He man thanx for help i will try this out What do do u use cauz maybe when I don't get this working I can maybe try it on the same Daw you use to be 100% sure that it will work
Anything but not Logic I don't have apple and I don't know anyone that has it so I can borrow for some days

Well actually everything is fine except that there is no sound there is a signal coming i can see in the channel and the transport panel but no sound , maybe my connections?
im connecting just over usb , maybe cauz the Sh 201 doesn't support usb audio or what now...why is it so hard lol

now i m going to buy a mixer and i ll put sh 201 in mixers one channel and give pc sound card to other channel of mixer.. and i think its the only truth !!

i cant hear anything anyway of using sh 201 with my cubase . all sounds come from my head phones.

Since we have the same syth + The same problem I just wanted to make sure of another information:
"That Synth can be used a VSTI right or what?"

That the key Question for me in this issue if it isn't then I don't need any Editor to edit the patches lol..then I will keep recording audio without any luck in recording midi notes then playing them with the sounds o the synth as I thought the Sh 201 can do.

Isn't that the key Question for everyone? I mean since im still new to this I prefer to make melodies using midi notes to edit them and not to record a melody 100 times until i play it right using audio.

Hi , here I am again

First, as I've stated before, the SH-201 VST is just a control program to let you edit the 201 from your DAW. So the SH-201 VST DOES NOT WORK AS A SINTH.

Second:
Let me try to reproduce what I do to try to take you guys to solve this:

- I have a single USB cable between the SH-201 and the PC
- I connect my headphones to the phones OUT of the SH
- I open Sonar (the DAW I use), go to Options and select the SH-201 as my MIDI IN and OUT. I do the same for Audio options selecting the SH-201 audio driver.
- I open a new file, create a audio track and a MIDI track
- I select the audio track, select a sound on the SH, press REC and play - now I have a AUDIO recording of what I have just played.
- I select another sound in the SH, go to the MIDI track, press REC and play while hearing the audio track I recorded before.
- I made a mistake in the MIDI track, so go to edit and correct the wrong notes on the MIDI track.

So far I haven't used the EDITOR VST and I hear everything from my phones.

Now, *IF* I want to change the patch played by the MIDI track (obviously I can't do the same with the audio track) I just open it and, playing BOTH tracks, I mess with the Editor 'till I get the sound I want.

ok i dont want to hear sh sound from my computers sound card.head phones is enough..
NOW can you tell me please !
im recording a track in cubase with sh vst and its recording also.
second im opening an audio channel and i put a wav file on this..
and i push start button to listen ...everything ok .. i hear audio wav file from my computer sound card and sh from my sh head phones.
and now.. ! when i want to export 2 of them from cubase to mp3 , its just exporting my audio wav file from cubase !! why it happens can you tell me ?if im makin a wrong i must know ..
im just selecting export to mixdown .. is it right ?

but in nuendo i cant record in midi channel what u said .. its just recording in audio channel .and thats audio format and i cant edit it is there anything i did mistake ?
