Windows 10
Windows 10
Anyone got their SH-201 working under Windows 10 yet?
The Win 8 driver doesn't seem to work for me.
It stopped working when I upgraded from Windows 7x64 to 10

Re: Windows 10
Install VMware on to your computer with a VM OS running XP or 7. That should sort it out but you wont be able to run the VST editor within your DAW. but the librarian and editor can work outside within the VM OS. its the only workaround now. i dont think Roland will update the software at least for a very long time to enable it for 8 or onwards.
Re: Windows 10
good call :)
I've already changed from using the USB Midi to the legacy Midi ports to use it within my DAW
But I still want to use it for programming the sounds and patches using the librarian.
I'll try the VMware route
thanks

Re: Windows 10
I'd be interested in reverse engineering the drivers, etc. and releasing some open source versions. Anyone else interested/able to join me?
Re: Windows 10
I will upload a working one.if anyone interested watch this thread....

Re: Windows 10
Windows will not install the drivers by default ,because I modded the inf files.
Type "cmd" on the search field
Right-click "cmd" and run it as administrator
Give the following 2 commands:
reboot and we are ready for installation
Open the device manager and find the unknown sh201 device.
right-click->properties->driver->update->don't search->have disk and goto folder where you unzipped the attached driver.Depending on the version of windows choose 32 or 64 folder.
Ignore the warnings and install.
It is done! (audio&midi)
Last step is to reverse the windows driver checking ,to default
Reboot and post comments here.

Re: Windows 10
DUDE, YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Works perfectly.
I had to disable UEFI Secure Boot in order for "bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON" to work, but did a bit of googling and did that ok.
Thanks for your efforts and step by step instructions.
I am extremely happy.
Thanks!

Re: Windows 10
Thanks,
especially for the tip of temporary disabling "UEFI secure boot"
It was just a modification of the inf file . Most interfaces work that way, especially when a driver exists on Vista (preferably win7).
If you have an old interface working on Vista and up and doesn't work on latest Windows ,don't hesitate to pm me.
I tried using ASIO4All ,but it wasn't stable. (needed 64 buffer setting). But I can live with 96 samples latency...(remember to tick the box for lowest latency on sh201 asio panel)

It works perfect, thank you.
I'm wondering why Roland could't fix it and release the driver if it works.

I just wanted to send out a big thank you to you and a big condemnation to Roland who seems to really not give a shit about their loyal customers. I was ready to ditch my SH-201 until I came across this forum. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Re: Windows 10
Thanks :)
I no longer have the sh201 but still watch this thread!
It seems after every major of windows 10 the driver is disabled but it's easy to redo the steps ;)

Re: Windows 10
Was just about to say that! Windows had a major update yesterday and the driver is gone, so have to do it again. Bloody annoying they are at Microsoft! :(korakios wrote:Thanks :)

Re: Windows 10
I am having an issue with my sh-201 on Windows 10.
The drivers work fine in terms of installation and detecting the Roland sh-201.
Sound output and MIDI works fine through USB.
However, sound input is distorted, almost sounds like a ring modulator.
It sounds like a bit depth issue, but I have tried various applications and various bit depths and sample rates (of course the ones that are supposed to work with the sh-201.
Any suggestions?
