Ok, so I guess nobody has an image of the Antares Auto-Tune plug install CD (prior to install). As I mentioned earlier I sold off my VS-8F3 card awhile ago, which I had previously installed the Auto-Tune plugin on and now with my new machine and new VS-8F3 card I cannot install any of my plugins. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCETABLE; here I paid close to $200 for the Auto-tune plugin (bought it new of course) and now I am forced to not only lose all of that money I invested but I would also have to buy it again if I wanted the same functionality.
My question is, does anyone have any program or way of reading the "PLUGINFX" (.PLG) file so that the authorization key from the previous card could be removed.
Btw, LISTEN UP ROLAND, this is absolutely unacceptable, I mean there are ways of protecting yourself from software piracy and whatnot but there should always be a way for the original owner to be able to continue to use the software in a new machine if he/she changes cards. I mean what the hell happens if my VS-8F3 card just stopped working for some reason, would that mean I would be out every dollar I invested in multiple plugins. THIS IS A REDICULOUSLY poor design.
By the way, now that I know that this is what Roland does I will make sure to make a disc image of the install disc before I install any plugin that way I will always have an unathorized version handy. Seems like a pretty big loophole in their system (unless some could explain how this would not work; it seems theoretically very possible). I hate this kind of proprietary security it forces those of us with enough drive to search for ways around security methods which is not something that any of us who actually bought the software new want to do. I am not saying that I would do this but loosing nearly $200 makes a pretty good incentive to try to hack through this propriety crap.
Sorry for the rant, I am just really angry that I am possibly going to lost all the money I have invested in plugins and that there is lamost nothing I can do about it (again unless I got a disc image of the Antares disc prior to installation or find a program that can read the .PLG files, at that point I may be able to just remove this authorization key); however, I would very much not like to do that as it is probably illegal in some way.
I have to admit this makes reconsider purchasing anything from Roland ever again; sure they make fine products but the fact that they cannot help in this situation is, like I said, unacceptable (at least to me).
