Ontopic: I cannot answer WHEN, but I can assure you that next Roland workstation won't be a sampler - except maybe the "skip-back sampling" gimmick (still a poweful tool in skilled hands). It will be AT MOST a sampler player - same as XV-5080 or Kurzweil PC3K series. Roland knows it lacks some serious power to dabble into sampling and it's useless against more powerful software counterparts. Also it hasn't released a sample catalog in decades and it's more than unfriendly for third-party software. Why put a sampler for? They have other dedicated hardware doing vocals and stuff - V-synth GT, V-770, etc.
On the other hand, I expect Roland to seriously pump up the sequencing and controller bits of the workstation. Make it both easy and flexible to work with.

Offtopic: you cannot compare integra with JP50 and say you would always choose JP50. That's ludicrous. And if you say that surround stuff is the only thing on the plus side that's laughable. The only weird thing is they developed a software for a non-owned piece of hadware (iPad). Maybe they're paid by Apple to do this, who knows? Why 7? Maybe because that number went viral on a rival best synth some time ago? And maybe Roland is fed up with less that deserved negativistic feedback on everything that contains "8", "80" or any 8 plus other different no. of 0 digits???

I think its now the case that roland is like a snake feeding on its own tail
Its bitten off more than it can chew..
and has fallen in to the same trap as its users.. playing catchup with newer and newer configurations of synth/workstations instead of concentrating on Quality and support.
there are only so many times you can keep trying to present the same stuff as the latest and greatest without running out of places to go..
they should not have been so short sighted in the race and kept supporting the G in both ARX and OS for alot longer and made it something alot more than it is.
But what can you do, its like talking to a brick wall with roland..
Now the wall has fallen on top of them under their own weight with very little ways to go now.
All they can really do now is chop away at current and old and try glue em together and polish em as Shinny and new for the foolish and their money.

Sensible people will look elsewhere..

lol! well let say am a new customer looking to purchase a synth from roland. budgeting consideration.
Integra 7 =$1999.00
Roland A-88 midi controller hammer action controls your SN synth directly = $999.00
both about $2998.00 for both.
now Roland A-49 midi controller synth action = $249.00 + Integra 7 (1999.00) = $2248.00
so, JP -50 i guess will just make sense to settle with $1999.00 76keys all in one.

If i am dishing out $2998.00 why not go for JP-80 which is 500$ more. Is it worth spending 500$ more? mmm i totally think so.
On the other hand, most of the best sound of srx are in FG and 3ARX is still good to me. The only thing that is actractive to me is the surround in that integra 7. To spend $1999.00 on module such as the integra 7 is too much.
Maybe the give FG owners discount on integra7 since we already have a code and code A-49, A-88 midi controller unless its really not compatible then i say save the 2G and save up for JP-80.

I will agree, its a great additional to FG owners But not on that price tag. Between 49key =$249.00 And A-88keys = $999.00, i say:
FG8 owners get $999.00 discount
FG7 owners get $599.00 discount
FG6 owners get $399.00 discount
now maybe this will get some of us FG owner happy to get a Module for additional.
anyways, business is business.

So, what do you think, will Roland release an Integra line of workstations?

I'm kind of hoping that Roland built a workstation around a new V-synth with the SN-engine of the JP added.
Throw in a sampler which finally is able to read at least one standard format and which can stream user samples from an internal SSD, a linear (non-phrase) based sequencer, more flexibility in the FX-routing than with the FG, and you got a package which looks appealing to me.

I think a new workstation is off the cards anytime soon judging from their latest release..
it would be wayyyy to expensive and judging from expectations in DAW functionality they could never offer a significant built-in DAW to cope with current demands and expectations.
I feel they are going to concentrate heavy now on more modular and slimmed down versions of whatever we would like to see.

I always complains about the polyphony on the FG. i love the concept of FG. The only thing is they might not make another workstation in 76keys and that will suck.

Why can't Roland replace the gut of the FG with that of the Integra 7?

Why can't Yamaha add their excellent FS1R and AN1X to the Motif?

I'd buy both.

A: Because they're doing that in the next Fantom
B: Because Yamaha have given up
