Roland has so far been able to keep their ship air-tight ! No LEAKS (so far).

The surprise factor be it positive, or negative, is still worth waiting for, and when they announce their new keyboard/workstation (if it is really a big step forward) , will be a super-cool surprise, that will put a nice smile on many faces.

Let's continue to speculate, wait, and sit tight.

Winter NAMM 2012 is a few days away. This has been one very, very long thread, and wait.

Cheers,
Muziksculp

I have my money all ready to buy one. Im waiting for their next one. I can wait, I have other workstaions but
I want a new Roland workstation with all the goodies they can pack into it. Mmmmm good.
Im holding off buying another guitar just in case. If they don't then here comes a new Alex Lifeson Custom
Les Paul. :)

That and the lack of any update to the firmware of the G tells you all you need to know about how much longer they intend to support the G, which is a crime IMHO. It would be awesome for them to partner with Apple or another tablet manufacturer to make a revolutionary workstation product with a detachable screen. It would be nice to think that they are so busy designing the next workstation that they don't have time to update the G. However, I am betting in this economy that they have taken the conservative approach and haven't done much yet on the next gen, waiting to see how the Kronos does. The X was the last workstation they actually supported properly. If I were a betting man, I'd think that 2013 would be the soonest and it will probably be playing catch up rather than be something everyone has to have...
musiccomputing.com makes a computer based work platform keyboard with a removeable screen.
BUT I still like having pads and sliders and all the stuff in one keyboard. Roland could make a great
workstation with all the natural sounds and maybe put in some of the V-synth Gt technology since the
V-synth GT would be around for alot longermanufactured anyway. So they could keep some of it alive in
a new workstation voice stuff has always been cool. Plenty of memory would be great and modify the squencer a bit. They could have a winner and take market share. There are still alot of people that don't
like having to deal with a computer all the time for squencer so there is still a market for powerful
workstations. The Kronos is just not that impressive to me and Ive looked it over and over but just can't get sold on it.

Will see how roland make with the sales for their jupiter series. Rumors has it that that jupiter series is a flop in sales. It would be a big mistake to release a new workstation line for Roland if they can't even fix or update an OS for their previous half-baked workstation.... If Jupiter Sales are low and the product is a flop again. then Roland is done!!!

mmm, they might still have a big market share in piano benches.... and artist relations ;-) duh.

A new workstation ? ... -> asume (because you never know with Roland) it should exceed the jupiter80 capabilities , I'm not sure what price tag that new workstation should get ;-) lol.

Nah, let them first sort out the FantomG (I'm a believer ;-) )

LOL on the update for the G! Then again I find it pretty decent for the most part. No regrets about buying it at all. In fact it's worked out better than I expected. I hope they keep going with the Fantom concept though. As we've all pointed out a bit more TLC with the G and it would have ruled. It's still a great machine as it is. If a new one does come out in 2013, that should be a lot of time for it to get even more powerful as technology has moved on since 2008.

They broght the J50 out right after the Jupiter 80 so I think they don't mind if they bring out another
workstation while the other Jupiters just cam out. It would be a way diffrent machine.

Can we not get a petition going to try and awaken Roland's interest to continue the Fantom G's OS!!!

Its still on there homepage as a current instrument so why can't they at least offer some kind of updates, surely they are more than aware of some tweaks it needs!or do the decent thing and list it as discontinued,if its still on the production lines then obviously Roland have a duty to offer some kind of upgrades to it,especially with the touches it needs to make it more feasible to some or even sell the remaining units if they've stopped building them, and perhaps even more so since the Prices of them have rised dramatically over what they were originally listed for when first made!

Its got to be good for Roland's side of customer relations....

And Its got to be bad for brand loyalty for them to have left it as it is,I wonder how many people who Bought a G would have contemplated buying a Jupiter or other device, but thought sod it if thats all they offer in terms of support.
There seemed to be a stigma attached to another famous brand workstation after the way they sucked in customers at a massive pricetag then dropped it like a lead balloon only to release a poor mans version several years later which added more to it for half the price!

Are Roland Going to follow suit and simply piss on the flame of the Fantom G and expect people to jump ship to it after dropping it in favour of a new model,to me all the Fantom G needs is a few tweaks and it would still be relevant,it many ways it still beats the daylight out of the competition's workstation as a performance and composing instrument,I can't wait for my JP80 to arrive, what a combination!

I think that would be a great idea. It would show there is a fan base that does care and has the money
to puchase new G models if they would come out with one. I think there are alot of people that would buy
a new Fantom model if they came out with it. I sure would, money waiting in hand.
Yes upgrades to the G would be good to show they are interested in the G fan base. I think they wouldn't put
alot of upgrades to it then people might now upgrade to the new model. The new model would need to have
lots of power more memory, supernatural sounds maybe a SD drive. It sure would be a cool system.
They could leave the basic case design about the same, maybe a few more buttons on the front panel and
buttons across the front under the keypads like the Jupiter 80 for changing sounds quick with your thumb.
Thats a nice feature.
Would be nice if we could mail in a letter to them and have them respond at Summer 2012 and say whats going on with upgrades to G and new Fantom workstation for the future soon, and not in two years.

Rolands policy is Non communicative
this is how they have operated for years, they tell you nothing so that they can choose what they want to do at their own pace.
Any kind of statement from roland would lock them into a commitment which is not how they operate.
Roland is a power onto themselves and only they know what the future holds.
Thats just they way its always been.

I think if people strated to flood them with emails about a new workstation they just might listen.
Who buy their products, we the people.

"Will ROLAND announce and show their new Workstation ? "

My guess.

NO

"The wait continues ..."
I have not been waiting for roland to do any thing (life and music goes on wtihout roland)

But lets play a little..

NEWS!!
ROLAND release the all new Fantom GS,
the same old technology as the G but now with a limited supernatural add on.
you can now do exactly the same thing as you where doing with the G and some but not all supernatural features of the JP80.
and hay look at our wonderful files system (not!)
Now with 256 poly.

So there it is...
The Fantom GS.. is this all they can come up with?
was it worth waiting for?
are you really going to waste your money on some thing like this?

And dont for get all that wonderful wait time for further updates to fix whatever bugs they did not have time to fix just so they could get it to market..
and the fun starts all over again..

(This is just my guess on what the next release will be even if it was 2012/2013)

What I see for the future is CHINA will come in and take over the music industry if these companies don't
get on the move with new great products.

China and Korea !

Seems like Japan has been the major player, but things might change for Roland, Yamaha, Korg, ...etc. if they don't move their behinds faster, and move us into 2012, and beyond as far as their technology goes.

Watch out for China and Korea, they are not sleeping, or slowing down their industrial tech-base.
