Hi all,
Got the 808. Brill so far and just upgraded to 512 meg RAM to.
I currently have an Emu 0404USB soundcard and microKORG synth for controller keyboard and sounds. Want to know the best way of connecting it all up for MIDI.
Currently I have the microKORG connecting to the in and out of the Emu and the Thru on the microKORG connected to the in on the MC-808. I have done it this way so that the audio/midi are in perfect sync on Cubase. But is there a better way so I can record the movements of faders and sound tweaks when using the MC-808 as a sound module?
Thanks
Best way of connecting MC-808 up for MIDI?
Re: Best way of connecting MC-808 up for MIDI?
Hi DLA,
try this:
MK out -> MC in;
MC out -> Emu in;
Emu out -> MK in;
I think there is a switch in mc-808 options to route all midi in to midi out called something like "soft through".... Activate this switch.
Ciao, Dirk.

Oooh that sounds like it should work. I take it that the MC808 will then accept controller changes from the MK and MC and record them to the Emu?
You're a fountain of knowledge!! :->
I'm tempted to route the MK audio outs to the MC808 audio ins and mix the sound in when I want to record lead sounds etc as I've only got one set of 1/4" jack ins on the Emu. This should be fine right?

Hi DLA,
yes you are right. I even use the MC-808 to record my other synths (solo sampling) and do not use a computer for recording at all (only for sound editing).

Re: Best way of connecting MC-808 up for MIDI?
Well I connected up this way and it wouldn't work.
I could play from the MK to the MC and record in Cubase but it would not then go back from Cubase to the MC. I assume the MK does not loop information it receives from its MIDI in socket to MIDI out and it has a MIDI thru???
